A few quick thoughts...

What a player Melksham has become for us especially after some early criticism from our supporters. I always thought he would be a serviceable player for us but he has far exceeded my expectations.

Jack Lever - best game for the club and will really give him a lot of confidence coming up against his old side.

Fritsch - what a find. Silky smooth mover and good decision maker.

Good to finally belt a side especially those 'bruise free' Blue flogs. Also really enjoyed watching the Dee's faithful celebrating the 25th goal just as hard as all the other goals too. It's been a while since we've been able to enjoy a big win like that on the 'G.

Carlton will never get back on track until they confront their demons and admit they tanked, the beacon of their tanking is Kruze.

They've also taken all the scraps that GWS were throwing out hoping that they would get back quickly, well that didn't work. We have four ex GWS players and none of them played on the weekend.

I remember once that their then President John Elliot said "Carlton don't rebuild", he got that right.

... and judging from how GWS played against Nth, I don't think the players still at the club are showing the strategy to be a good one either. Sure they have injuries, but they still have exceptional talent on their list that has not had good exposure to AFL footy, and I think is hurting their development.

More deliberate kicking across shorter distances, to a man finding space - the team triangulated a little, providing two flankers for every lead - and that was tremendously difficult for Carlton's youth to keep pace with - and it provided double the options we had to receive fwd set-ups. The backline pressed on, drew Carlton fwds out and also found space about the ground; their opponents also had difficulty keeping pace, manning up and winning the ball.

Yes our play in the second half, the running and hanballing, short kicks to a man in space, risk taking by spotting up someone in the corridor, etc is the first time it has looked like full ground drills I have watched at training this year. The bomb it long into a congested forward line didn’t happen that often and how many goals did we get over the back with players running into open goals? We have built up a lot of confidence to take the game on in the last 4 wins, let’s hope our attacking style holds up against the better sides who will intercept  more often and make us pay on the rebound. If our midfield remains healthy, hungry and inform we can match it with any team I believe.

Watching the replay I noticed Viney was mic’d up for “Sounds Of The Game”.

Nice little insight, referred to a few of his teammates as “brother”, a lot of positivity towards others, he loved bigger Bulls’s contested work and even had some settling words for Trac.

There was a mark by Tmac where the ball seemed to have passed him by 2 metres. He stretched out his Gadget arms , marked it and goaled. What a great forward he is. My sons u13 coach told me good defenders often make great forwards because they play with with freedom and because of that.......confidence...ie not scared of stuffing up.

Whatever the case Tmac is one of the best frwds going around.

I had no idea Melksham could play like that. Where did that speed come from?

Always been quick. Ask any knowledgeable Bomber fan..( there's maybe 5 lol ) theyll tell you two things... they'll never forgive Pig for defecting...and Milkshake was always quick.. sometimes lethal...often erratic. That annoyed a lot of Bombers. My eldest lad ( from blended family ) is Essendon ( as is sister ) ...he always rated Milkshake...said we had a bargain.

I wasn't convinced early...he said...just wait. There weren't many he laments having left Ess. Pig and Melksham were excellent pickups in his view.He is/was right :)

T Mac will end up making the AA team...   he will be impossible to ignore despite missing the first 5 games.   That will be a distant memory come Round 23 when hes snagged 50+ goals in 17 games.

Will they (afl) allocate more pixels to accommodate "all our goals" this week ? ;)

How much better are we with T Mac in the side? Just about one of our most important players right now. His move to the forward line has been a masterstroke by Goodwin.

What about in the first quarter I think jack took an easy mark saw it was Cripps on the mark and ran straight around him and burned him off. That was so satisfying!

I thought we were pretty average in the first half.  The second half was amazing.

Carlton have now gone 42 games without reaching 100 points.  It's a lovely stat and one I expect (hope) continues.

The AFL competitive balance policy and equalisation fund has seen Dogs, Suns, Cats and Blues give up their round's pixels to go to our highlights reel.

I loved (among many things) seeing the Carlton boys squib the hardball from half time on. So many times it was going to be a 50/50 get, and they stopped rather than dive in. Yeah, that bruise free footy jibe still hurts, but I reckon it's them that are feeling that pain today.

Somewhat annoyed with Bernie...he should never have left the ground....... That cost momentum and force. Daisy should never have got up ;)

What a win, we have craved that type of win for years and years, makes it all worthwhile, great to sit with two of my daughters in the Ponsford stand and celebrate goal after goal, we all felt intoxicated as we walked back to the car and drove home to Doreen. Yay, Yay and Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy....................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Dee's....................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My quads are killing me today from jumping out of my seat celebrating 25 goals.

Will need them to do that a every week so that I can build up my conditioning.

Yep...theyll be red and blue all over.

In other news police tape surrounding the G.... apparently a crime  scene..... The Crew suggesting a massacre perpetrated on Sun.....

MCG staff said to be still combing the turf looking for scalps .

There was a Carlton guy on bigfooty that said something like 'Yeah I cried. But no-one noticed as it was drowned out by red and blue laughter'. I gave them a like.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
