Keep an eye on Nev the next game,

always watching, one of my favourite things is seeing him win a 2 on 1, or spoil a bloke who is 10kg/cm bigger in a marking contest. In order of who I would pick 1st for the team he is in top 5.

1. Gawn

2. Oliver

3. Jones

4. Tom McDonald

5. Jetta

I'm actually with @DaisyDeeciple  on this one that Nev (and the dog act it was) isn't getting the respect that he deserves.

i think we all agree that nev gets a rough deal from the ump.......but not for the reason @DaisyDeeciple hypothesised

No way the guy who gut punched Nev doesn't get looked at.

They showed it on the replay, it is clear as day. He punched him and Nev went down, and we know Nev would never double over in pain unless something really hurt him!

Largely agree, and that was mostly what I was infering, but to be honest, I'm still open and think I could be convinced on the unconscious bias argument as well.

I don't actually think Australian socioty has much time for social minorities that speak up and speak loudly, openly and honestly on behalf of the disadvantage of their cultural background.  The Adam Goodes saga was evidence of that.  I think being a much shyer, lower profile type, Nev may not speak up when perhaps others might for fear of not wanting to bring these negative race based assertons upon himself. That in it's self may mean he gets walked over more easily in circumstances such as these.  Personally I'm under no illusions how much harder it must be identifing as indigenous in this county.

I was at a loss to explain why Nev had not been receiving a fair go from the umps, and was wondering of it was based on unconscious bias re race. The MRP has now made it clear I was wrong and everything is hunky dory...  Also for all of you having a go for using the term 'black fella' let me paste the words from one of my favourite Aussie  groups the Warumpi Band.

Black fella, white fella
It doesn't matter, what your color
As long as you, a true fella
As long as you, a real fella

All the people, of different races
With different lives, in different places
It doesn't matter, what your name is
We got to have, lots of changes
We need more brothers, if we're to make it
We need more sisters, if we're to save it
Are you the one that's gonna stand up and be counted
Are you the one who's gonna be there when we shout it
Are you the one that's always ready with a helping hand
Are you the one who understands these family plans
Black fella, white fella
Yellow fella, any fella
It doesn't matter, what your color
As long as you, a true fella
All the people, of different races
With different lives, in different places
It doesn't

I remember having to sing this song for music class in primary school. Was pretty catchy.

I must admit the thought crossed my mind when listening to the way the commentators laughed about it when viewing the replay yesterday.

so now you think (briefly) that commentators having a laugh encouraged the ump to be subconsciously racist towards neville

i guess that would be telepathic-subconscious-racism

this thread just gets weirder and wierder

I love Jetta and the above more than anyone but I'm guessing you forgot Viney.

Myself and Mrs Worship went up for this game and had a lovely time however I had a spontaneous moment where I yelled out "he's black not Fn invisible" this was a reaction I think based on a lot of previous observations and I'm not sure if it's coz I'm biased however I think Nev gets a raw deal a lot of the time. It was fabulous to hear the MFC supporters get behind him and I hope he heard the support that was given.

I failed to see the funny side, wondered why they laughed. I wonder how they'd like to be punched in the balls...

Why was Day not cited for the late charge into Salem's back?  Honestly, of the two I think that was the more dangerous action. He wasn't even close to being in the marking contest, lined him up, ducked the shoulder and hit him right in the middle of his back.  Especially given the "NicNat rule," a guy of his size and weight, moving at that sort of speed could have caused a severe injury.  We're bloody lucky Salem is a tough bugger who shook it off.

you can go back to the game against the lions game at the gabba earlier this year when Jetta was pushed into a pack and pretty close to knocked out. No charge laid

No matter what bows have been drawn here. Nev seems to get a really rough deal.

Maybe it is colour related as we all know for a definite undisputed fact that no white maggot likes the colours RED and BLUE

No i was very conflicted about which 5 go 1st, i deeply love Viney, he is heart and soul, this was purely on which names go one the board with permanent marker.Same with Hoges, but i think these 5 are the toughest to replace. If Jones wasnt there then Viney, but for me Jones is still the senior of the two...

Both the May & Day incidents occurred in front of our group at the Gabba.

Nev was certainly out of the action for some minutes and if we were on MOR our penalty might be greater then one week.

Whilst @Satyriconhome suggests Nev might laugh this off, on Mother’s Day, can we please remember sometimes family members might be directed to read what’s being said about their boy. We may mean no offence but offence may be taken.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
