Sharp as bowling balls.

Not interested in him but very interested in what approach Eagles will use to get out of their present doldrums. My guess is that the Eagles Board will have set finals in three years as the minimum measure. Like Geelong they are not used to losing year after year.

Trade season could be very lively this year

It reminds me of our 2009 draft with Sc##%y and Trenners.

Will always be remembered for a moment of madness

Such a classy move by the AFL to sell the sponsorship rights to player retirement announcements.

Maybe I should do the same thing on Demonland?

Thought he had retired already. When i saw this thread pop up i assumed we had taken him on in some sort of coaching role

If he’s remembered for only one thing…

Yep. Insane thing to do, and all the more nuts because he was an otherwise very reserved AA wingman. He might have even qualified for the AFL “Good Guy Pass™️” if it was seven years later.

Bradshaw was 18 years old. Smashed jaw and dislodged teeth, in tears with so much pain he wouldn’t let them pull his mouth guard out. Poor Mrs. Brayshaw has had to deal with a lot watching her sons play footy.

I read an interview with Andrew Brayshaw, who wanted it known that he’d forgiven Gaff (who incidentally grew up a Dees supporter). In a very eerie coincidence, Andrew Gaff arrived at Andrew Brayshaw’s house with an apology and a bunch of flowers.

At least he wasn’t mentally-busted enough to bring wine though.

Yep. A shame. Dominated the wing like Langdon picking up 30+ disposals every week for a decade but will be remembered for one terrible moment that he clearly regretted instantly.

I still maintain to this day that he was kindly trying to remove a bit of fluff under Brayshaws chin

He was probably genuine ….and wasn’t just  trying to avoid suspension.

Brayshaw was being a pest & illegally holding onto Gaff & stopping him going past. Not an excuse of course but I can understand Gaff's frustrations. If Brayshaw had done that to Ray Biffin or Ditterich things would have been really ugly.

Yeah, I’d say a busted jaw and several dislodged teeth fits the description of “really ugly”.

Gaff barracked for the Dees. Unfortunately we lost him to the eagles and somehow couldn’t get him back to the MFC.  Overall he had an excellent career at the Eagles.

Indeed he did. His mother was a Demon, father a Tiger.

FWIW my son + Andrew were friends at primary school. We (me + son) went to many matches at the G with Andrew, his younger brother + mother. He was quiet, nice boy. He was (and still is presumably) intelligent, so will no doubt have a successful post football career.

I tend to agree (and would like to think) that the hit on Brayshaw was an ill timed whack. Cost him a premiership medal.

Heard exactly the same stuff Winners. He went to my secondary school. Unassuming and a good lad.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
