That is a disgusting allegation directed towards our captain - I'm somewhat surprised the moderators have allowed it to remain the way it has been worded.

Just because your opinion differs from an answer he gave to a question - As a supporter base, we cant expect respect until we can display respect as a supporter base.

However, I'm sure you are prepared to come out from your anonymous "keyboard warrior" status and direct the allegation direct to his face - but then again I won't hold my breath.

How are you travelling, brother? All good?

Garry asked him if it was true that Tyson wasn't selected because of his role in the camp being cancelled.  Garry wouldn't make that up so he has heard it somewhere.  Jones gave the only answer he could which is it is 'nonsense'.

But right there Tyson was outed as one of the agitators which is really poor.

Whether he deserved to be selected I do not know.  However, I would be ropeable if our selection panel were 'punishing' a player for standing up for something he believed.  It would be petty and I hope our coaches are more mature than that.

Garry probably plucked that theory straight off of demonland....

Nathan being on the show the week after the cancelled boot camp was raised in the season opener was no coincidence.  The club is being proactive and I believe there are a lot of people that want to see us succeed and quite a few involved in that show,  but there's definitely blood in the water with this story.   He was able to swat the questions to the boundary relatively easily (not that his surfing buddy wouldn't have let him know what was coming).   There's an issue here, but it's manageable and it shouldn't define our season.  My fear like all Melbourne supporters is that somehow the club will once again find a way of stuffing this up.

The concern for me on the weekend was a lack of cohesion in defence and our lack of forward pressure.  ANB, Melksham, Garlett and Hannan had 5 tackles between them.  Fritsch had 5 by himself.  Nev looked uncharacteristically lethargic.  Tyson and Brayshaw's non-selection (assuming that Gus was true to his word and was fine to play on the weekend) may have had a role to play (not saying it was deliberate, but players subconsciously can be put off by perceived injustices).  I wouldn't say it was a lack of intensity, but quite a few just didn't seem switched on.

This looks like being another test of Goodwin's leadership.  It would be rare for any leader not to be challenged from within, and they are the most dangerous of challenges, because while outside threats can unify, internal dissent is all about disunity. He needs to be measured, consistent and fair.   Peter Jackson should be reminding him that list management decisions are made at the end of the year not at the start.

This camp thing seems like b-s.  If Tyson was up to scratch, and could help us win, would Goodie really not pick him?  What sort of internal culture would that create?  On the flip side, if there were internal metrics (that keyboard warriors cant see) that determine if he was doing what was required to get the role, then the guys who were ahead of him should be upset if he was selected on last year’s form and not against preseason form (relevant NOW).  If we had 30 players who were good to go, how do you select who plays?  How do you know how close he was?

I bet if we won the conversation would have a different tone.

And if the camp was B-S, I’m glad it was cancelled.  At the wrong time this macho ‘endurance’ weekends actually harm performance and negatively impact culture.  Can the media and dyckheads here just get over it?

He also went down on a teammates missus.  Lot of good that did him.

Again, I have no problems with you having an opinion on our captains character.

Personally, I can see the difficult situation he has been placed in infront of the cameras - but I'm not going to slur his or the clubs character without getting all the facts.

Just not sure anybody here has all the facts - but again fine to state your opinions.

Honestly wish the club would minimise media contact. Seems every time a senior player makes a public statement we singularly fail to back it up in our next game

He should have had a quiet night at home. Why front up to a show where the optics were never going to be good and the answers unsatisfying? There were no positives to be gained. He was just giving oxygen to the controversies.

Pointing out when someone is lying is not "stating an opinion." It's called "calling out [censored]." I understand why it's done, but I'm going to call it out for the BS it is.

Just be mindful our players and our players families also want to be part of our community

Ok fair call - you obviously take this more serious than me. I thought it was just a bit of fun.

I’m going to do as you ask and leave.

All the best hope we have a great year.

Tyson's injury last pre-season and the supposed lack of medical facilities or attention have been mentioned in the story about the pre-season camp. So it would make sense if he was one of the ones against the camp.

But can we move on from the pre-season? Its real game stuff now. Many more things to whine about.

Stretcher, I don't

I miss JW at the club, but, believe it or not, I've moved on - doesn't mean that I don't want him to do well or follow his progress

Jonesy was awkward when JW was brought up and I feel that he needed to be more honest in his summation that surrounded the situation (in my very servile, humble opinion)

There has been a rumour buzzing around that Tyson was out because of his role in the cancelled camp. I know of it said by a footy heavy hitter.

However, David King on SEN basically said it was bull tish.

I didn’t see this last night, but these interviews usually pop up on the club website in the video section 1-2 after airing so will keep in eye out.

After Tyson injuring his knee at the camp last year, then the fallout of the camp this year and not selecting him, we opened ourselves up to speculation. Fact is Tyson should’ve played on the weekend. He’s a better option than many who were selected and subsequently failed on the weekend.

He has to get out, he has to represent the MFC brand and other brands to support our sponsors.

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol
