Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

So many impatient people.

He’s connected to Collingwood by lineage. Having them make rumours up about him is just part of the territory. I’d be amazed if there was any truth to that at all.

They can have him for

stephenson

treloar

taylor

and 2 first rounders

and if they send Hoffa to the orthodontist.

been a big fan from the start. Will be our key man up front for next decade. Roos toke him and Oliver for a reason.

Stop the presses! It took a Melbourne supporter to find Jimmy Hoffa. And there was a clue in his disappearance all along:

"Hoffa disappeared on July 30, 1975, from the parking lot of Red Fox restaurant."

His association with concrete contractors meant getting a burial for next to nicks.

Are you saying he's buried next to Dominick "Big Trin" Trinchera or Dominick "Sonny Black" Napolitano?

They can scan concrete these days so expect many underperforming mob lawyers will start re-surfacing.

Either way you've made me hungry.

How good was Weed when he took a long line of backward steps to mark near the boundary. Most players either turn around and mark it over their shoulder or trip/stumble getting back.

His backward motion was safe and steady and he judged the drop of the ball perfectly.

His marking skills such as judgement of the drop of the ball and timing for the leap are excellent and if left to develop over time his marking ability will become a weapon. He should also develop as a mobile ruckman who can do more than just negate. A candidate for the McCartney development school.

Its been a long time since we had a follower (as they were once called) with strong marking and rucking ability to cruise around the ground and influence contests. He is potentially too valuable to be just a forward.

Good contribution knuckle dragger. The ball definitely swings strongly and looks like he miskicked it. Doesn’t mean he wasn’t aiming at goals, but he definitely didn’t kick it sweetly

Knuckle dragger! Nice one. Did you spend the full hour before you replied coming up with that one?

Let's hope that bloke that said he's going to geelong at the end of the year was wrong because we've got a future star in our hands...

I think him and TMac can be the key pillars next season with jesse Hogan playing a Jarred Roughead type of role mixing between full forward, HFF and mid

I think he miskicked that from the TV. Looked like one of those ones that curved late due to a miskick, could be wrong though

It looked better on TV than it did from behind the goals. Bit of a floater that seemed to dip at the goal at the last second. Great result for him though. He'll be ramming them through from 50 on a regular basis next year

The ball was swinging around at that end all day, drifting towards the south goal post. Weed took the mark and immediately put his hands up: he was taking the shot.  He then proceeded to slot it from nearly 50 m out, almost on the boundary.

He knew exactly how he was kicking it and nailed it.

At 21 he possibly has 5 years more than Max. His ability around the ground may come in handy when we reach that transition in the future.

LoL... shakes head... what, like English is his first language, dc?   or has he already developed a bloody plum in his throat.

Lets let boys be boys, and footy players be footy players, and not spoil therm by smoothing off the edges, just yet... please. Let then have their roughness's. and their aggression.

Was right behind that shot. Went left peg and it looked pretty deliberate.

Yes, but surely the only imperative is that they can play footy, 1st, 2nd, & even yes, 3rd.... I don't care if they're illiterate.   We can always send them to school after footy, to learn the alphabet.

It's high time this club stopped worrying about grammarians,,, and focused on footy players.... as a priority.

Or we will go for another 50 something years, again.

What's wrong with someone who speaks well and plays football well? Not like they're mutually exclusive.

Really liking Weids at the moment. Something that i've noticed is all our picks in the Roo's - Goodwin era are all great characters who are willing to crack in. When we drafted Weids i was amazed watching his introduction interview in which he said he was prepared to wait for his chance. Granted when he had his chances at AFL level he wasn't a beast like Hogan was, but he has grown a lot this year and i think he will be a weapon in the final series and hopefully a more permenant starter next season.

Gradually working my way through the replay, I am more and more impressed by some of the little things (are these the so called one percenters?) with knock ons, bullocking, shepherding and also his ruck work.

Seeing grandpa (the ‘great enemy’ of the late 1950s) and dad in the crowd supporting him made me, hopefully not getting too far ahead of myself, dream of Sam playing the game of his life, his true “breakout game”, being pivotal in an upset win against Collingwood.

Go Dees.

Go Sam.

Deep down it must really bug Murray that we got him! I’m sure they are very proud.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
