We should definitely be in the market for a free agent at the end of this season. Vince will most likely retire and Lewis would have one year left, Jones probably 3. We are also right in our window so should throw the kitchen sink at winning premierships over the next 5 seasons.

I'd have a crack at any of the following:

Luke Dahlhaus

Andrew Gaff

Marc Murphy

Rory Sloane

Sloane would be worth getting just for the Adelaide melts.

They do get salty. Not as salty as their tears.

We should be chasing Gaff on your behalf Ethan. I'm sure you'd get a few chuckles out of it out west.

This would be great, I’d wear my MFC jumper into work with Gaff’s number on the back. They take things very personally over here, I’d probably lose my job.

I would take Dahlhaus in a heartbeat. Good player. As for Gaff I must be different from other people. No thanks.

I am with you. Gaff is massively over rated. He has been very ordinary in September

If his Family weren’t Demons, he would be mostly unknown.

Dahlhous is twice the player

Dahlhaus is well ahead of Gaff as a target for mine.

Gaff is very much an outside player which isn’t the Melbourne mould. Even our outside players are more than willing to get their hands dirty and win their own ball. We want versatility and Dahlhaus provides that. He’d be a big loss for the dogs. Arguably their second best player.

No for mine. Money better spent keeping our group together. We have youth that should - all going well - be on Dahlhaus level by years end. Plus, we have a strong midfield, and there would be no point forking (a lot) for what would be a forward pocket player.

Bernie's mate?  Just bring him, too...!  LOL

They're both overrated as far as I'm concerned.

I'm all for getting Gaff. Exactly what we need and he would be very gettable.

I wouldn't be chasing Dahlhaus. We have a heap of players competing for that hff position. I would much rather spend the money on someone we need.

Sloane and Lynch would both be amazing but I think they will stay or there will be other clubs who will make godfather offers to them. I don't want to break the bank.

I'd go Sloane, with a $3.2mill over 4yrs contract offer.

($850thou Yr1,   $650thou Yrs2&3,  $1m Yr4) = $3.2m over 4yrs, mostly back-ended. If we can squeeze it in.

We need a mature player of his type.

We need that quality runner, who is not totally outside.

WE chased him a few years ago and correct me if l am wrong, however l remember reading it in the papers as the Bulldoggies put a halt to it as he was still serving  a contract. He can hold his own . Mid 20s.

Good goal sneak. Certainly worth considering

Point of order. His mother and brother are Demons. His father is a Richmond supporter.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
