Zero. Just my own gut feel.

The smoke is growing in my eyes and Christ I hope I'm wrong.

My "gut" is the opposite to you and the @martins of this world.

Other than Balic, which is a foregone conclusion, I don't see anything else happening this trade period.  And certainly nothing concerning Hogan.

So we lose Hogan and Watts in these scenarios suggested-

I miss the ludicrous / fun rumours that sound very posted. But too many times people bag them out so we don't get them any more  and this thread is less for it.

MFC has demanded at least pick 2 and Freos first rounder next year for Jesse. This is why Freo offered Weller and 5, for The Suns' pick 2. This will then be sent to us for Hogan along with their 2018 1st pick. Freo were asked for their first rounder and Neale, but he refused to be traded, so we are in for 2 x first rounders instead, with this years being upgraded so we can get our intended target in the draft. The Lever trade has been used as the basis of our demand for 2 x first rounders, with nothing more than a fourth rounder going back to Freo.

Deal essentially done and will be announced Wednesday.

What reputation?

( None of that is true, but someone needed to take the focus of the Jack Watts thread. My reputation is taking one for the team)

I'm surprised one of us hasn't created a new account and trolled something along these lines. Especially, ETthetradebreaker. That guy's become reputable.

They got us some time back.

C'mon everyone, i showed you all how to post a decent rumor yesterday, but this thread is STILL rubbish.

Last year there were 39 trades.

So far this year there has been 5, meaning 34 trades must occur in the next 50 hours.

Can't see this year getting close to last year.

contrary to the collective wisdom on the Jake Lever where the "experts" kept telling everyone that a player beats a speculative draft pick any day of the week.

I'd agree with 'the collective wisdom' then, but I'd also say it completely depends where your list demographic sits. Our list is at a point where it needs to add some final best 22 contributors for 2018, not 2022.

It's pretty rare that someone comes in like Oliver or Hogan and becomes a pivotal player for their team from almost day dot.

In order to keep our young gun group together, we need to demonstrate to them that we're ready to attack that flag next year.

some much older lists needing to get some kiddies in..some lists struggling as past picks unable to muster the coin needed to make the trades worth.

A few chooks coming home to roost.  Combine that with some clubs better at trading than others...some clubs trade..some really dont ( much ).

There's , as usual ,  one or three trades holding up everything also.

it's a marketplace...some days better than others

ok... but if that were true you would still expect the number of trades to remain relatively constant across the board in the sense that at any one time there will always be teams at the various evolutionary points.

Still does not really explain the absence of trades this year. Also if you accept that this year is a "shallow" draft you would expect a higher number of trades as teams try to compensate for the lack of talent in the second round etc

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
