Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The game is in Canberra?

I assumed it was at Spotless stadium.  Now very confident we will roll them.

GWS actually have a really good record in Canberra. Haven't lost a game in the last 5 games I've seen them play here (record could be longer) and the some of the teams were no slouches. Still give us a good chance and it should be a good game!

Our supporters section is Hill stands 1 and 2. That's where we'll be sitting. They're not amazing seats in terms of glare etc (which is probably why they get allocated to the opposition) but you're at least close to the players when it's out on that side.

Manuka has a good atmosphere when it's a full house, which this definitely will be.

Getting in early, I know, but thinking of making the trip to the nation's capital for this match.

Advice on which spot at the ground is best to watch from. Where's good to stay (surely I can bot a bed from Big Mal) and good pubs also.

Been a long time since I've been to Canberra. Do I have to set back my watch 20 years?

Thanks in advance

Not too early at all, some advice here...

The Kingston Hotel (aka The Kingo) is close to the ground and a good spot for pre- and post-match beers. If you're talking pubs in general then Bentspoke Brewery in Braddon is well worth a visit, as are the Durham Arms (in Kingston) and the Wig and Pen in Civic.

Yeah Kingston is the way to go for Pubs

Don't stay at Rydges canberra - had one of the worst hotel experiences ever there and I aint picky

if you are over 22yo don't go a place called 'Mooseheads'

and if you think the mornings are cold here, my word, canberra is like north of the wall

I'm heading up there with the old man, and we've virtually gone in blind and booked seats in the lower bay, between the flank and pocket. Managed to score an airbnb only a few hundred metres from the ground, and apparently next to a pub. So we're all set. Can't really give any advice on where to sit though!

30 years should pretty much cover it. Drove through there a couple of months ago and was dead as a dodo.

Why they decided it was a good spot for a capital I'll never understand.

Don't forget to don a safari suit.

I lived in Canberra for a total of about 3 years in the 70's and more recently (in the last decade) would stay there frequently for work.  Over that time, it has certainly improved as a place to visit and there are some good eateries and bars around Kingston and Manuka.  My son and I are staying in Kingston so it's a short walk to the ground.

Kingston is the best option to stay, with a couple of pubs, many restaurants/cafes and a short walk to the oval or Manuka (more dining/drinking venues - perhaps a little more upmarket) and the oval.  Accommodation here though is predominately apartments and my travel agency is now finding it harder to meet demand for Saturday night.

The other option nearby (walking distance) is Barton where there are some quality hotels with very good onsite restaurants.  This is probably a 20-30 min walk to Kingston/Manuka (note the oval is on the way).  Barton though is quiet, with little night life.

They will be without mumford when they play us.

Bummer. i want us to play their strongest possible side. if we are going to win the GF we need to be able to beat other sides at full strength and i rather risk losing than play an undermanned side and shore up a top 4 spot.

JOKES!

I'm heading up with a few mates. Didn't realise you could book tickets through the club, so just got them on ticketmaster. GA in the Hill was cheapest so went for those. Prefer standing so hopefully the hill is standing. Should be a ripper!

We're flying up and back same day (with return flight to Melb. via Sydney first!),  but booked GA on the Hill to at least save some money rather than seats never having been to the ground before, thinking we might be the only demon members there standing.  At least there might be some company for us.  Not sure what vocal support GWS get there?

Dont trust the gate. Buy through AFL website (or app), go to GWS vs Melbourne game, hit buy tickets button, look at diagram of ground seating and press location next to it which highlights section with prices. Hit purchase tickets button and then you'll get the ridiculously inflated prices they actually cost.

For accommodation pm Ungarie boy. He's da man

The Hill Stand is seating. There is a genuine grassy hill as well, which is GA.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
