AFL Round 16 - Non MFC Games 2017

It looked a lot worse from the back than from the behind the goals camera.  From behind it looked like he ran JJ right into the post.  Other angle shows him push him in the back causing JJ to crash headfirst into the post.  Perhaps not that much difference, but it could be the difference between deliberate and careless.  Either way, it's significant impact to the head, so if they decide he's liable he should be gone for a couple of weeks.

Just had a look at the walker hit it's an interesting 1, he chose to bump would be same if he bumped him into a fence it's dangerous and I think Tex is in trouble that had the potential of being very nasty, broken neck nasty

was thinking the same

fascinating that the commentators made no comment

They did make a comment and it might surprise that it was a particularly stupid one.

Don't remember if it was Taylor or Carey but they said he was trying to shepherd the ball through for a goal...

The strange thing was that the ball was already through before he touched JJ.

Dogs won the flag and deserved it, but they are no powerhouse thats for sure.  Hard to see them making the finals from here, they look a disjointed mess.

They are cooked well and truly

Bulldogs have four very winnable games in the next few weeks:

Carlton, Suns, Bombers and Lions .... will decide their finals race ... but not out of it

Nup. they're gone. Just woeful in the second half. Very similar to our game against them actually. Reasonably competitive to half time time then folded like a pack of cards. Something is crook in Tillabruk.

Fox Footy on Tex's dirty push: Just a weird accident, nothing to see here, deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Anyone who doesn't think the media has a clear agenda to protect certain players is kidding themselves. This will be conveniently forgotten with haste.

Tex Walker deserves at least 2 weeks for that, was so dangerous and he knew exactly what he was doing.

Watch the AFL let him walk as if nothing happened.

Unduly rough play. One week reduced to nothing, cause they're playing Melbourne next week.

The damning part of this footage is the way JJ's body bends as he's pushed.  He clearly put a lot of force into that shove.

He shouldn't be suspended for that and his intention was to shepherd the ball, no send Johanasen into the goal post. if that happened up the ground it would not even be a free kick. Plus he was back on the ground 5 minutes later anyway.

Lets be honest. Not worthy of a suspension and we'd have a 20 page thread if a Dee got outed for that. FCS some of you are embarrassing and certainly don't watch matches openly

So is anyone else going for the pies today or is it just me? I really really want them to beat essenscum. I want them to lose so it will decrease there chances of making the 8. We are 2 games clear of them and 3 games clear of the pies so we can affored the pies to win.

Plus Im sick of seeing Bucks in the news everytime they lose.

The dogs last night, if they kicked straight it would have been a different story. Sure they still would have lost but it wouldnt have been as bad. The hawks didnt back up in 2009 and the dogs do have a pretty easy 4 weeks. They just need to work out there best 22. They do make a lot of changes each week.

Oh and Tex will be fine. JJ wasnt fully concussed. I want Tex rubbed out but only because we are playing them, otherwise I would be saying no way should he get suspended. But gee scary to play the crows after last night. I forgot how tall there forward line is.

Sort of agree with you

But

the AFL is saying the head is sacrosanct and must do due to concussion issues. Therefore any head contact deliberate or accidental that causes head injury must be penalised.

It seems Tex action was late and dangerous. If on any other part of ground not so dangerous but a player could strike the ground with their head from such a legitimate and deliberate tackle.

We have seen some erratic actions and decisions on contact to the head so I think we are all pretty open about the issue.

The recent ignoring of the strike to Clayton jaw and the Selwood incident shows the difference applied to individual incidents. This incident will just add to the inconsistency.

The AFL must support its "sacrosanct" statements with a meaningful minimum penalty irrespective of subjective analysis. Not likely to happen so see Tex playing next week.

Only a fool would want Essndrug to win.  If they lose their season is over and its one less challenger for a spot in the 8.

Richmond beating St Kilda would be great for us too.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
