Actually it was a perfect sling tackle. Arm pinned, spun and slung with no opportunity for the tackled player to protect the head hitting the turf, which it did. The only reason he wasn't reported is because Dom got straight up for the kick.

Exactly.  If that wasn't a sling tackle, we need to erase the word "sling tackle" from our vocabulary because there's no such thing.

A deliberate elbow to the jaw is a deliberate elbow to the jaw.

Wonder how those tosseRs on the MRP will squirm out of that?  Insufficient contact? Accidental ?  or careless?

Maybe, yet again, the Dees will be the test case - 3 weeks for exaggerating contact??

Who knows with such a corrupt wing of a corrupt organization.

The Oliver jab seems pretty soft but Oliver isn't a soft player so I would imagine the chest punch slipped up and copped him on the chin. He wasn't happy that's for sure.

First quarter we were smashed and were lucky to have the lead, but I think the second quarter was pretty even and we've earned the right to be in front. Hannan needed to kick that goal before half time.

We can win this but I feel like we need to get cleaner with kicking.

I agree too. Text book sling tackle. Thought we were lucky at the time but replayed confirmed it.

Jack Trengove would be pretty pi55ed off if that isn't cited.

i doubt oliver was staging, his a kid who got a swipe in the chops from a pretty hefty player that took him by surprise. he has always seemed to be a pretty tough kid from what I have seen. he certainly looked [censored] once he got up and still [censored] in the rooms.

As we all know, you're fighting a 4 goal umpiring bias in the west, and you'll never see a more obvious example than Jeffy's perfect dispossessing tackle in that last bit. The very definition of spineless, unaccountable umpiring.

Quite amazing to see it go Eagles way....and yet:rolleyes:

Jack Viney has 16 contested possessions.  There are only three other players on the field who have 16 of any type of possession (Tyson, Lewis, Mitchell).  Playing the game of his life, the skipper.

That is an incredible effort.  Needs some support.

Agree if a side can kick the set shots and the ones running into an open goal they win. We should be 3 goals further up!

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
