Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Jomnes is out for 3-4 weeks with an abductor strain. source is from an ex player.

Probably not an abductor strain as we haven't stolen the premiership just yet.  But an adductor strain might be a possibility!

Put Vince in the midfield (to tag Mitchell) and bring in Wagner as the first of the changes.

Watching Watts cover so much ground, his final position might be the wing, with Pedo and Jesse forward.  Max in the middle and the Macdonald brothers flipping forwards like burgers out of the backline.  This would work at the back end of this year, then Weids in to replace Pedo next year as he forces his way in.

Max is a walk up start, Pedo stays in, and we replace a medium with Max.  If Jones is out, we bring in another runner - Wagner or JKH would appear first in line.

Frost out?

Even if Kennedy doesn't play, and with Gawn returning he stays in and plays on Darling as he matches him for pace/size IMO.

OMac or TMac play on Petrie at full forward and if Josh Kennedy doesn't play I'd play one of the McDonald's forward in a defensive forward type role to simply compete with McGovern every time the ball is in the air. With Pedersen to start at full-forward on Hurn in a similar type contest.

Reckon we actually match-up on them pretty well.

Need to put some time and effort into Jetta as his delivery into the forward 50 last week was unreal.

Also Mitchell, Priddis and Shuey seem to gather a million possessions each when we play them, but our mids can take it up to them, especially with Gawn back and putting it in their laps!

Sydney Swans' Josh Kennedy is no guarantee to return for Saturday night's clash with Melbourne.

This from The West Australian! Or have I missed a mid season transfer?

Frost speed too important on Subi. Absolute certainty to play. OMac might be the extremely unlucky one.

I keep reading in this thread about the concern of a "long trip to WA". I hope it's only supporters who even think that it's a concern. West Coast and Freo cope with this "long trip" every two weeks or so. If they can do it, we can do it. And we only have to do it a couple of times per season. If our team's mindset is somehow compromised by this concern then we're not yet ready to be a power club.

Whilst not disagreeing with you fundamentally, there are a couple of other trips which we make:

Perth 2721 Kms

- Alice 2260 Kms

- Darwin 3148 Kms

I'm  more concerned about the after effects of the Darwin trip. (Not the distance of course but the conditions).

Anyone know if any other teams have three straight 6 day breaks with  a big interstate trip in the middle?

We have been shafted by the AFL schedulers, I am surprised PJ let them get away with it.

we asked for QB and the Friday night game so you can't really complain

Ideally the Friday night game would be another time but as you can see from our opposition (interstate team) and time of year (dead winter) we were not top of the pile.

Watts on a wing... powering back and fwd... fantastic.

You think PJ has the power to stop the AFL machine?

If we can win with these challenges, it proves that we are up around the mark.  No excuses any more.  When we play, we should win.  Anywhere, any competition.  That will mark the start of our next chapter, and our true entry into the premiership window.

We as supporters need to move on from feeling hard done by by the fixture.

The club requested the first part of the season games be in Victoria to help with getting members, so not travel.

Our last 3 games this year are at the G.  .

The end result is our travel is condensed into the middle of the season.

DL has long called for a bye after a NT game and we got that this year.

We can't have everything.

On the positive side the team (players, coaches, support staff etc) really enjoy going away together - get to know each, comradeship etc.  Important things to build a team and teamwork in the wider sense.

Answering my own question

http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-fixture-2017-release-the-winners-and-losers-from-the-draw/news-story/89f589adea09af357ed108fa70c313f6

We have the equal most six day breaks -  8.  Equal with Geelong, GWS, Hawthorn and Doggies. Not sure if any of them have three in a row, though I guess they would at some point.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
