There are rumours of trouble in the Dogs camp with some players at odds with each other. Anyone hear anything about that? Was some talk on SEN today about it but nothing definitive....

A lady called SEN during the KB show, saying she knew what was wrong with the bulldogs and it involved two players (which she was asked not to name on air).  I think it was Martin Blake who (completely unprompted) asked if it involved a woman and the caller said 'yes'.  For Blake to ask that question would suggest there are some stories floating around behind the scenes. I assume that off air she gave the producer more info and the player names.

That call will probably trigger the media ambulance chasers to start digging for dirt.  Only a matter of time before it becomes public.

Poor doggies, their season is falling apart on and off the field.

Tbh I have no sympathy for them at all!

Sam Frost is turning into a total gun.   He might be as fast as Hunt, which is crazy considering how tall he is.

Sam Frost is a ridiculous physical specimen. Surely he's wasted in the AFL. He should be winning gold medals in Sport X (whatever he's best suited to).

Steady on!  Paul Roos is totally biased to the Dees when commentating on Fox and Ox is unashamedly a Dees tragic on SEN.

He tipped the Doggies to win just before the game, so not so one eyed...

Some sort of issue between JJ and Stringer, one of them apparently won't be at the Bulldogs next season (from the top..)

We traded pick 23 (Pat McKenna, haha) for Frost, pick 40 (ANB) and pick 53 (Omac).

Quick Sam Edmund, go and write another article about Josh Kelly and Lobb being better than Tyson, Salem and Hunt!

No he didn't.  He said the Dogs would get their act together soon but he thought not before Melbourne beat them.

I've just finished watching the replay of yesterdays cracking win, and I don't know if its just me or what, but listening to the commentators on Fox sports, we had amongst them in particular Huddo, he is so biased against us.

He seemed to spend much of his commentary umpiring the game and calling out his perceived infractions committed by us and hardly, if at all, by the Dogs! What a little sycophant. Now I know I am one-eyed, but he is just so blatantly obvious in what should be non partisan situation. I think Dwayne Russell has those leanings also. But Hudson, he has that face I'd just like to punch!

Oh well perhaps I'm just a bit too sensitive for my own good . Go Dees

I got the feeling it's because Hudson was sitting next to Brad Johnson so got caught up in the Bulldogs cheerleading. Johnson was sooking it up big time especially after Buggs free kick/goal. Was extremely satisfying but ruins the production for repeat viewings.

I got the feeling yesterday (based on observation alone) that there might be some friction between Stringer and a couple of his team-mates.

There were a number of interactions where I thought 'that doesn't look that good' in terms of team harmony, one of which was with the Bont.

Didn't think anything more of it, until I read this post. Stringer looks to be carrying a fairly sizeable ego - in fact he looks like a bit of a [censored] to be honest.

Let's get him.

Huddo at times gets very focused on building a game up when a team is down, and I don't think it's necessarily a bad trait of his. But when a game is over like it was yesterday with 10min to go, unless it's a big club with big stars, his commentary goes very flat to the point where he sounds like he just wants to pack it in.

I don't think he was biased for the dogs, I think he was disappointed he wasn't getting a good contest!

Brad Johnson on the other hand could not contain his bias and it got completely out of hand at one point, so bad that Huddo needed to tell him to settle down on air.

Roos I think is mostly fairly levelled but every now and then you can see him wanting to gush with pride about certain Melbourne players. I reckon Oliver is one he particularly likes!

I might be totally off but I know for a fact that Stringer left his partner of 10 years, a month after she had their second baby, in rather unpleasant circumstances. His ex partner and the kids are very close to JJ and still hang out. Might be some anger there between the two?

I would, but he's just not a good footy player.

What did we give up for him again... bargain! Again plenty on here thought he was a dud.

I think (think... because I know one day I'll say something silly about a player) I've learnt to hold back on under rating players early on or even medium term.

Bugg plays for the free, before the opening bounce was happy to hit the ground hard and offers up his back to the numnuts. Wood fell for it after hannan goal

Sorry mate but this has been overplayed and is wrong. Bugg bumped Easton Wood after the goal, it was cheeky but not free kick worthy, Wood got him back and clearly hits him in the face with a round arm while bumping him from behind. That's too high and a free kick every day of the week. Bugg milked it but he also bled from the face so he milked it a lot less than both Cripps and Rowe against our players.

Brad Johnstone* clearly finds Bugg annoying and so failed to point out the high contact in the commentary but it was clear as day at the ground and the right decision. Stupid act from Wood who should've just bumped him back without smacking him in the face.

Don't buy into the Bugg-haters, it was a clear free kick and if it had happened to one of the media favourites they would be screaming for a suspension for high contact outside the play. The MRP would've suspended a MFC player for 3 weeks if they'd done it, but hey, everyone can see that double standard.

Edit: Brad Johnstone sooking it up about the Bugg hit not Johnno Brown

Do we really need to do this? Just enjoy our footy, we're doing ok.

I don't usually watch "Talking Footy" on 7mate, but thought I'd tune in tonight on the back of a great victory.

Without exaggeration, with 8 minutes to go (after ad break) they haven't complimented Melbourne.  The first part of their program was all about what's wrong with the Dogs.  I wasted an hour.

Don't want him. Selfish player. Burnt teammates twice in a couple of minutes in the last q going for hero goals. Not on

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol
