GAMEDAY - Round 10

Recommended Posts

Please don't let Dom Tyson speak. Number 1 in the league for trailing his player to the ball.

This performance is a true embarrassment after the intensity we proved we could play with against the Crow for 4 quarters 2 weeks ago.

Lewis is playing like the shadow of what he was. I would prefer him to play on the line and get outed 3 times a year than the rubbish he is displaying currently.

How Bugg got a game again is beyond me.

Not many can hold their head high so far but as we are now half decent we are still a sniff. Doubt any of them can bother to pull their finger out to actually win it.

That is our forte, chasing and then losing. No one is better.

All of that possession for a 4 goal half.

A team of [censored].

I'd love to know the possession to scoring ratio. We would have to be the worst offenders in the league. So much midfield domination which achieves absolutely nothing without score conversion.

Why has Goodwin and now Tyson said we're playing well and it's evenly poised? They look very dangerous off half back and given our insipid performance into the wind in the first quarter, I'm not sure there's much upside.

Whats wrong with Watts? Has done nothing...... like last week He is our second biggest and fifth experienced. He plays the occasional blinder but they seem far and few between. I thought he would keep getting better.

Has taken ONE mark.

Jordan Lewis' skill execution this year has been nothing short of absolutely atrocious.

I watched against the Saints at Etihad and thought his kicking was almost sublime. It's hard to believe that skill has completely disappeared.

Need to stop this extra players at the bounce bs. Can't get genuine one on ones in the forwards. No skill in the forward line apart from Watts who looks fatigued as hell. Just an ordinary team with an ordinary coach.

Very ordinary game but one win can still win. Lets get the points and regroup over the bye.

We are better than this.

No. We are not better than this. This is melbourne, this is as well as we can play

Tom McDonald unbelievably bad. 3 marks with in 55m for a return of a handball to someones foot, a lob to Hannan vs May when within range and just a pathetic shot at goal.  All while the superstar Leslie takes 5 intercept marks in a half.

Jordan Lewis, refuses to chase, maybe it would be acceptable if he could actually hit a target.

Forward line is a joke, bunch of plodders who you have no confidence with when kicking for goal (ANB, Bugg, Harmes).

Watts leading well in the first quarter and dropping everything.

Frost is always pathetic in the first 10 minutes of games, needs a new routine.

This club is just disgusting.  Year after year they talk a lot and then expect their supporters to suck it up!  Essendons young kids developing quicker than ours, Gold Coast are 16th and yet we serve up this garbage!  This is crunch time for this club.  Bye next week then the pies!  Crowd will be lousy if we lose this one.

This is like watching the old Dandenong Redlegs in the VFA

This Alice springs thing is ridiculous. Pre-season sure, but playing an interstate side away from the G as a home game is just amateur stuff. We are nomads and nomads without a connection to home. Are we Casey? Or Melbourne or Junction oval St kilda?

We play like a team without a soul. Because we're a club without a soul. Our soul and identity should be the MCG and only the MCG

What an absolute disgrace. We have the dumbest players in the league. Bugg is a waste and oscar stands outside the boundry line thinking he is in play. The whole side make me sick at the momment.

I don't think laziness is the issue in regards to cracking in and getting the ball.

It's just dumb football that is our undoing as well as laziness in regards to disposal (personified by Tom McDonald and that woeful handball in the first quarter).

To say we needed that goal from Garlett is an understatement, it keeps the margin manageable but it sounds like GC are playing footy while our players are going through a training run. Not interested was the comment from one of the ABC commentators.

I think they set themselves to be down by a bit at quarter time and assumed the second quarter would be all Melbourne with the breeze, someone forgot to tell them you still have to work for it!

i laughed at everybody heralding TMac as a forward after Adelaide, he can swing there every now and then but he is a defender. There have been a lot of poor turnovers from senior players, Lewis sounds as though he's been the worst offender. He needs to stand up. The talls from GC are really top but it comes from midfield dominance, we had plenty of uncontested possession in the first quarter but did nothing with it. That has to change.

17 points can be realed in but it starts with commitment and ends with execution. Doesn't sound like we have either.

Who's dumber Oscar calling for the ball when out of bounds or Melksham passing to him.

Both....the MFC is the best at procuring dumb footballers who continually [censored] up and turn the ball over to the opponent on a platter

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
