Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think Frost can handle Tom Lynch (or at least keep him to a couple) and if our defense holds up I'd love to see T-Mac swung forward again to release Watts up the field.

What makes you confident Frost or any of our other key backs can hold Lynch to only a couple, when we haven't done so all year against any other Key forwards. NRiewoldt 4, Hawkins 5, McCarthy 2.3, N Riewoldt 6.2, Daniher 1.6 (& 2 on the full), Roughead 4, Brown 5.2. Not to say we won't win but we would have to be the worst team for goals against by key fowards.

I'd prefer us in blue shorts and GCS in white (do they wear yellow?). That would give us on overall darker strip.

Do we know the colour of the shorts?

Ablett out? Finally  a bit of luck for us, though I can sadly now our players taking Gold Coast lightly

Hopefully Weid stays at Casey for an extended period to work on his craft. He should not come into consideration until he is dominating games in the VFL.  Tim Smith and Liam Hulett should be in line before him if we want to bring in a big forward over the next few weeks to warm Jesse's seat.

I live in Torquay but am in Turkey on my annual swim trip. There's a 7 hour time difference.

BTW this is where we swam yesterday (pretty nice). I feature at the 20 sec mark.

What team matches another mentally for an entire game, every week, for 120 minutes?  No team is THAT good.  Every team has flat periods in a game, ours have just been a little longer than they should be during some games.

The Adelaide game is proof we can do it, while the North game is an example of that inconsistency.  Every game is also proof that we aren't pushovers and we will be in every contest.

Again, you are too rosey eyed.

Being "in" every game is no longer enough. Norf shouldn't get a look in against us if we are a finals side, but we simply cannot get over the line against them.

While It's definitely nice to roll a couple of top sides, no team will make finals if they continually roll over against bottom 6 teams. A 2 goal loss against a bottom side is about 8 goals short of where we should be at this stage. Close is far from good enough.

If we were to go off those comments then Stretch should have been named and ANB as Emergency.

Im worried about ANB. The guy just completely panicks and shoves the footy onto his boot with the tiny bit of pressure put on him. Needs to clean this side of his game quick.

So does N Jones.

The last two games of 2016 showed what a weak minded team MFC is.

Petracca at full forward could work out nicely, like the Essendon game.  Steven May gets a lot of possession for a full back and likes to run off his opponents like Michael Hurley, who Tracca kicked 4 goals on a few weeks ago.

I must admit I am pretty bullish about anb, I think he's improved quite a lot in almost all areas of his game this year.

His defensive game is strong and he's a smart player, as you said he does panic at times but I think you could say the same thing about most young players.

Im not sure how good he will end up being but I'm not unhappy that he's in the team

i am a bit surprised stretch isn't but I'm also very confident in what he will eventually become.

I'm not sure if players from other clubs are publicly recognized for game milestones for their new club, but its worth noting that Cameron Pederson will play his 50th game in the red and blue this weekend! He's played 65 games overall in the AFL.

And on another side-note, Nat Jones will move alongside Todd Viney as the 11th-most capped player in MFC history with 233 games to his name (three shy of ninth spot).

Being in every game is meaningless when we are out of it when it counts. 3 of our 4 wins we have taken decent big leads to the final quarter. Every arm wrestle lost bar one. Last season we only managed to fight it out back in round one. This year so far we have improved it to round 2. There is a pattern there.

Fairly predictable selections, although I wonder how Wagner keeps getting a game - the guy is very ordinary.

It concerns me that, with 10 or so unavailable and another 6 or so not ready for selection, the selectors seem to have put a line through the likes of Kennedy, Trengove & White. None of these are stars, but neither are this weeks inclusions and all of them are back for a second or third go. It leaves us with a very small group of players to pick from each week.

And letting GC17 wear red is a complete joke. What chance the umpires turn up in red as well?

Disappointed Stretch did not make it in. We urgently need players who can run through lines and deliver it efficiently inside our forward 50. Salem, Watts and Stretch are the 3 who can do it consistently. I thought Lewis would also, but most of his work is in the back half delivering into the midfield, and his kicking has not been greatcat times. The 3 ins are ok, but all struggle with kicking efficiency when under pressure.

Looking at the 2 teams we are going to have to lower our eyes going forward - their tall backs will slaughter us in the air. A big game from Petracca, Hannan and Garlett is essential.

Wouldn't it have been easier to fly, or are the air fares prohibitively expensive?

Hard to get excited about this game.

A win would be nice but unless they follow it up with a few more wins the game means little.

Will be looking for a few positives such as:

  • Continued development by Hannan
  • Wagner showing why the selection panel like him ( would help if he cut/dyed his hair so I can distinguish him from Hunt)
  • Oliver to have a great game by foot as well as hand

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
