POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 9

From the game day thread

Our kids try.

But they don't have enough leadership on the field.

I appreciate all of Watts hard work when the rucks went down. But hes not tough enough. Weid is just a kid. Hannan will be good.

Very disappointing. No one flew the flag

We just can't deal with expectations. We played our best after we gave away a tricky lead. As soon as we came within a goal though, every time, we just stopped playing until they got a good lead again.

We are where we belong on the ladder. Near enough is good enough for the MFC.

Recruiters have done a job of adding talent, however our tall defenders have to be the worst in the competition. Between the McDonalds and Frost we have  zero ability to fulfil the number one criteria of being a defender (being able to defend).

No surprises there. Same old [censored]. We are crap at the MCG.

Kent and Bugg disgusting performances.

Salem stupid and slow. Will be suspended.

Watts played like the old Watts.

OMAC is OMAC, so so slow.

Garlett poor, normally goes missing in the middle of the season.

Vince is done, tag or bust.

Riewoldt knows little about football (which surprised me), said he would tag Vince against Melbourne. Then talked about Tyson going in and roughing up the opposition to fire us up (like that would ever happen).

Negative: Our ineffectiveness continues. Once again we were pathetic. Too many times we just hacked it on the boot. It is disappointing. So much effort doing the 1%, but so much hard work being undone through stupid errors.

- Nicholls should never umpire a Melbourne game again.

Positive: Not many. Probably our resilience to get back into the game. Our effort was there much of the time. We got close to winning even though we played well below our best. Doing this with a side that doesn't have Gawn or Hogan.

There's no killer instinct in this team. They get complacent and self-satisfied. At half time they needed to come out and assert their advantage. Instead for 15 minutes they slept and only woke up a four goals down.

You are a better chance to win a game if you work extra hard to get in front and use that momentum. That's what good teams do.

Some very ordinary performances from the likes of the Weed, Bugg, Watts and Oscar.

Umpiring was blatantly biased.

Is it just plain dumbness that we turn up in the first quarter with little intensity, coz we seem to talk the talk but we rarely walk the walk.

WE supporter are ahead of the team. They are not ready to play finals. It makes me sad that we have to wait another year to see them develop and even then I wonder if can we play four quarter.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs West Coast

Many warned that this was a danger game and the Demons were totally outclassed all game by a young Eagles team at Optus Stadium in Perth as they were defeated by 35 points.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
