GC & GWS got their first MCG wins against us. Iirc correctly the GC game was Easter Sunday 2013, the week that Peter Jackson was appointed. They did us by 79 points and Col Sylvia copped a three week ban for nearly killing Jared Brennan with an elbow to the head.

so did WCE break their duck against us as well ?

That would give us some title.... there was a world famous Oz band around the time of the Beatles and it wasn't the Seekers that springs to mind !

Time to get some revenge methinks

I still havent learned to trust our team to turn up, and our forward line looks iffy atm.

Freo to win by 18.

Not sure about first win but first finals win, they beat us in Waverley Park in 1990-1991. A bit before my time but the inlaws apparently went over for it and it's a point of conversation whenever the MFC play the Weagles.

Interestingly enough, we were the Dockers first finals win too, I think their first win as a club was the inaugural Western Derby. Their first win at the 'G was against North I think

I don't buy into these ultimatums. We're a finals side if we win 13 games. Granted, winnable games like today are a huge opportunity to bank 4 points, but if Freo catch us out we shouldn't all of a sudden say we're not a finals team.

From what we've seen so far we're capable of beating all of the other teams when the planets align.

I'm expecting a Carlton like game where we win but can't relax until the final siren.

Its an obvious point you make and as much as I want us to play finals. I want us to be competitive. I dont want to make the finals to make up the numbers as do you Im sure.

In that sense its not unreasonable to expect to beat bottom teams (assuming freo dont improve much) by a reasonable margin at our home ground.

Given the outs of a few key players your assessment is probably accurate but a deecnt 10 goal win would be great to watch and wonderful for team confidence.

Hope Spencer does well. I think he will surprise a few.

Nah, it's all your fault if we lose now.

In all seriousness, a midfield consisting of Sandilands, Fyfe, Neale, Mundy and the two Hills is not one to be taken lightly. Need our mids to fire, otherwise we could be in strife.

Interesting to note      Western Bulldogs had

18 more poss

1 more clearance

2 more inside 50's

5 more const poss

9 more tackles

19 less H o's

Against Freo last week and lost by 16 points

I not sure what all that means but I thought it interesting

So the big question is, do I have time to grab a quick cup of coffee?

And also...

Can our sheer volume of competent mids/half forwards/half-backs overwhelm the exceptional 'first choice' midfield Scythe noted - "Sandilands, Fyfe, Neale, Mundy and the two Hills".

I'm pretty confident that the forward pressure of Kent, Harmes, Hannan, Nibbler, Petracca and Garlett can deny Fremantle too many easy exits from defence, and lock down the space that the Hills like to run into. I like that our tall forwards are just Weid and Watts, I think it suits the situation, but they also really need to do their jobs and not let Freo have too many easy intercept marks in defence.

At least our defence should have a relatively good day, as far as match-ups go.(He said, nervously).

Very keen to see Spencil (aka Gordon Lightfoot) resurrection. Hoping for blood, expecting a close slog with ample seating & parking opportunities.

You know how bad the recent past has been, when you start getting excited about parking spaces and spare seats on game day.

For once I just want to go to the footy and smash someone, I feel like a relaxing non stressful day, is it too much to ask for a 100 point win I don't feel like being stressed at 3 quarter time wondering if we are going to win or not, unfortunately I can't see it happening I can dream though

Yes, I'd like to go to the footy and smash someone, unfortunately I have to work.   :(

That's really bringing yourself down to a Freo supporter level, especially if you bludgeon a female. Not worth the lifetime ban, especially since we're on the cusp of finals.

id have been much happier with a lifetime ban in 2013.

Poor info from SEN or good misinformation from Dockers.

Well I'm ready for anything. Just inhaled double bacon and eggs over pancakes and washed it down with a bucket size cappuchino. I'll have elevenses at Scumbury before joining the plebs on pubic transport.

Feeling confident today.

You should enjoy it, I believe it's quite a hairy ride!

Approximately 1x10^6 empty seats, and plentiful car parking. One of the kids likes Freo's song. I reckon it sucks.

That day in 2008 when we came back from the dead against these guys. Seems like a lifetime ago...

I remember it well. Dad asked me if we wanted to leave during half-time. Being a Sunday, i said there wasn't anywhere else that i needed to be. Glad we stayed!

We were still behind by 29 or 35 at 3/4 time. A great win. Our greatest come from behind victory ever

11 point play. Bug burns garlett, then Hannan missed and they take it coast to coast for a goal

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
