Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Wow the MRP hate us, fair enough on the Lewis one given the injury but 2 weeks for Hogan is ridiculous.

what girds my loins is it is not 2 - it is 3 down to 2...it ain't a 3 week incident....

Show me some vision of him being hit in the jaw at any other stage during the game.

Andddd go.

Contact could have occurred in any scrimmage, bump, or hitting the turf.  How would anybody know otherwise.  However, the reality is, this will never be tested.  Anything else is just hypothesising and that is what is wrong with the entire MRP process.  Summary and arbitrary.

Well, didn't see that coming. Obviously if Cripps suffered a fractured jaw as a result of Lewis than it was a harder than we first thought. I still think 3 weeks is OTT but he has a bad record so we knew what we were getting with him.

Hogan's 2 week sentence feels harsh particularly as it's weighted to be 3 down to 2. First offence, stupid but the player continued for the day unless I'm mistaken. Maybe there was a further medical report that did Hogan in as well.

To those who were advocating the "unsociable Demons" how's that looking now? 3 of our most important players unavailable for a total of 6 weeks, worth it? As I've said earlier, we need to be tough and uncompromising but that's not what this is. Hogan was frustrated so he lashed out. Lewis loves his cheap shots, always has and let's be honest if he was still wearing brown and gold we'd probably be cheers this decision.

I'm glad we're not in bruise free footy anymore, but let's get tough at the footy and not be sniping idiots.

Jesse two weeks down to one and Lewis three weeks with no discount due to his record.

Just announced.

Was always going to happen, too many one-eyed supporters on 'land.

You're starting to sound like Saty with how often you say stuff like this, Steve.  You're better than that.

They were both silly boys but I hardly feel the punishment fit the crime.  Unless the club feel there is grounds for an appeal then there isn't anything we can do about it.  We can be angry, frustrated, annoyed, but it gets us nowhere.

Time for a few others to step up.  I'd rather Pedersen come in for Hogan, too.  Gives us more up forward than Spencer.

This will be a good early  test of our resilience and depth. Personally I'm happy to see the extra mongrel. I'm sure the players will learn and focus their aggression better for the remainder of the season. The next couple of rounds will show if it has hurt us but for now 2 for 2 is as good as it gets.

Yes, Hogan one was purely don't give me any and get out of my face....seemed to slide up a bit off his chest tho. The Lewis one seems fair enough of a player is injured.

Punches to the head off the play are going to be viewed dimly.  Apparently things have changed a fair bit since 2005 PF.

Hogan was waiting for the kick to come in so he could argue it's "in play" though I don't think that matters anymore with the new system - does it?

Both Hogan and Lewis were undisciplined and stupid to do what they did.

The MRP are guilty of handing down sanctions that don't stack up, no matter what angle you are coming from.

I'm just gutted.  It's certainly taken some of the gloss off being 2 zip.

Time for the Dees to take this setback in their stride.  Show the football world that we are the real deal and stare down the face of adversity.

Memo to all Melbourne players, if you whack someone in the stomach you get off but stay away from the head no matter how hard you hit them head will get you weeks a stomach punch a fine at tops

Going for the head is just dumb. No way you'll get off these days with all the concussion issues. Even hits to the stomach are unlikely to be viewed lightly, pretty sure they said they'll scrutinise that more this year.

Hogan gets 2 for a retalitory love tap. I am sorry but that is a joke. Lewis has been thrown to the wolves. The mrp are a joke.

I wonder if Hogan's would've been less severe if Lewis wasn't cited too. Of course every action should be assessed on its merits but we know the AFL doesn't work that way.

Be interested in seeing how Lewis explains himself on AFL 360 tonight. The fact that 2 of our leaders have been suspended in consecutive weeks is a disgrace. The club needs to address it.

Is he on tonight or Tuesday night?

Totally dispute that they "punched".

The footage I saw they both looked like closed fists. Hogan may have a case to get it down to 1 or 0 (if it was an open palm) but Lewis I'm afraid not.

on the plus the 2015 game down at the Cattery we had no Lewis and no Hogan ----no worries

They didn't play in the great win against Hawthorn last year either, of course Lewis was on the other side, we just have to win without them!

Lewis and Vince reducing their game load by swapping in and out is the only positive.old heads like these guys are not going to change their aggressive natures this late- rightly or wrongly.

For two 30 plus year olds this gives us another chance to play someone up and coming.

The question is who to replace Hogan with.

Seems to be out of an underdone Pedersen and Frost or an in form Spencer.

I seem to recall Hogan out and Spencer in last time we pantsed Geelong. So it may be the right formula, though we must take into account Geelong are struggling for tall forwards and are throwing Harry T around as an option.

Kent coming in doesn't seem likely yet judging from Caseys game.

Tim Smith is not exactly killing it yet either .

Looks like Vince and Spencer in for Hogan and Lewis out.

Just realised this should be in the selection thread but it is changed forced upon us by suspensions.

I still think the timing around Lewis hitting Cripps stopped their momentum and then  lead to us winning the game.

I'm just not into it, they were stupid actions & now they take their penalties.  Time to look at the replacements. From...Pedo, Spencer or perhaps we unleash the bull in T Smith, also Bugg, Kent, Treners, Kennedy. Frost might be ready, not sure avb, Keilty can't be far away, and of course Bernie will be back. Replace the soldiers and fight on.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
