Well, Well!  Carlton have somehow managed to find that Cripps Jaw was 'fractured' by Lewis!

But.  AFL.com.au understands Cripps' injury is at the minor end and will be assessed this week ahead of Sunday's clash against Essendon at the MCG. It is understood the fracture is not displaced.

But, No reports of Cripps having scans today so why did they not check him yesterday and take him off? 

Or, have the Blues overplay the evidence.

What's got me more gobsmacked is how in the world they assessed Scott Thompson's elbow to the face of Dangerfield as low impact & Lewis & Hogans as medium ? Ask 100 people what they'd prefer a 100kg mans elbow full weight falling into your head or an open palm/semi fist to the jaw... 99 would say the latter....

sounds like the Carlton Doc has it in for us a bit, or the boys lied and the club didn't follow the AFL rules around concussion!

yes, i'd like to see the carlton medical report. cripps' certainly wasn't 'medium impact'. i suppose the mfc get to see the medical report before deciding to appeal?

edit: just seen the comments re cripps' jaw fracture.....hmmm. would like to know if scans available

No concussion test either, I would have thought if you are hit hard enough to fracture your jaw a concussion test would be called for, and you wouldn't be up yapping at the opposition 30 seconds later.

I'm really sickened by the MRP decisions today.  

I'm so over our club being penalised for things the MRP and AFL turn a blind eye to when it suits them.

Cripps did not go off the field.  The doctors did not check his jaw.  How do they know the fracture didn't happen in another contest?  But they somehow manage to convince the MRP that the 'minor' fracture was caused by Lewis.

I'm tired of us not getting the benefit of the doubt.

Another frustrating thing to come out of this is that Lewis' track record is worse off once again. Lewis is at his best when he is playing on the edge, getting underneath the oppositions skin. It just adds that extra caution for him when he returns and moving forward. But then he's also a pro and has dealt with that a for while.

Both very dumb acts from both. Hope they both come back and really make an impact to make up for their stupidity.

He was yapping away at Lewis 30 seconds after fracturing his jaw. No doc looked at it then, no concussion test, nothing. He very well could have done it in a contest in teh final minute of  the game. Correlation and causation come to mind, Carlton and the MRP are working from correlation.

Lucky Vince only got a week or we would be in serious trouble

The first six games of this season are ultra important to us. No reason we should not be 5 and 1 thus providing an excellent springboard to attack a position in the 8.

Will be very disappointing to say the least if these suspensions contribute to us being say 3 and 3.

The MRP system is deliberately weighted against an appeal but I am sure the experts are looking very closely at just that eventuality

Seriously...if you punch a bloke to the head off the ball you should expect weeks.

We have 2 players behaving like spoilt brats that have been unable to have discipline over their emotions.  

There is no conspiracy by Carlton or the Afl and Cripps is not faking a fractured jaw.

Dumb and mentally weak.  Goodwin and the leadership need to jump on this.
