[EDIT] I'm not worried. He was ok without being brilliant last week, had a poor one this week but is better than that today. He'll be fine.

Not sure where to put Watts - there was one moment today in the 2nd q, right in front of me on the members side half forward flank, where he led into space, was overlooked and had a sook. The ball was still delivered to his area and he made no effort to get to the contest when he could've easily to spoil or get the ball to ground. Really poor effort.

But then he did some good things...

an eyesore of a game and I have many more grey hairs. Bit we take the win, move on, and never speak of it again.

Thought Harmes was OK, especially in the last.

Your comments about Watts (a bit harsh, but not much) also apply to Hogan. His midfield play was really good, his forward play was ... not.

And I admit he made quite a few mistakes, but Tyson really has to go into the top group for the truckload of good things he did. So often in the right place at the right time.

Ugly game. We were at our 2016 worst for part 2nd and entire 3rd quarter. Last year we would have rolled over in the last quarter also. Good sides find a way to win.

Jetta put in a fantastic effort in last quarter where he didn't get the ball but we ended up goaling which turned the game our way.

Brayshaw is struggling bad. Hogan still misses critical easy goals though generally I thought he was OK.

Jones and Clarey were awesome. Garlett did a great small forward job.

Constantly going for the chest mark in pack situations was the worst.

It took until the last quarter for him to start getting his hands out to mark it. What happened? He took a really strong mark that resulted in a gaol for us. I don't know why he goes for the chest mark, he has good hands (mostly).

It was an interesting showcase of old Watts v new Watts. Looked out of the contest and one step behind for much of the game but lifted to his 2016 level in the last quarter. I think that's what frustrates the fans, we KNOW he can do better and when he does that we are a much better team.

If he got another concussion today, judging by the blood pouring down his face in the last, I would be very worried.

He can kick on both feet, just not very well.

something just not right with Brayshaw.  He looks like a different player than when he first arrived. I hope he gets his mojo back

Brayshaw is miles off being an afl player.

Can't win the ball and turns it over when he gets it - very disappointed in his ability / development.

DA you're up there with Osilick, Picket and ENYAW with over the over the top statement.

As soon as our half forwards and mids started laying tackles inside our forward 50, we put scores on the board. It took until the 4th term to bring the required hunting in packs, chasing and tackling pressure.

Oliver was superb and if he ever puts four quarters of footy together, he will walk to 40 touches. Such a good user and thinker. He just keeps bobbing up. Smashed Cripps in the first quarter. Carlton got back into it when they held him more during the 2nd and 3rd.

Even though he set up a number of goals for us, Watts needs to be dropped I'm afraid. He didn't want it in the air and was soft at the contest. We can't have that anymore. Bring Kent in for him.

Tyson's return was generally terrific, no doubt aided by Oliver's early dominance. However, it was really important that he stood up, when Clarry was a bit quieter in the middle portion of the game.

Jones was terrific today. An A grade game from him. His only one blemish was a forward fifty entry in the third thay skied to the defenders advantage, but otherwise, he's taken his game to another level. What a credit to him.

On the other side of the coin, Viney has been terrible two weeks in a row now and this week in particular.

Brayshaw was equally terrible. I only recall one effective possession for the game (and he didn't have many).

Back on the positives, Salem played his best game for the club and can only remember him turning it over once. Was great in defence, solid in the contest and gathered a heap of uncontested possessions and used it well.

I thought Petracca's efforts today for probably a half to three quarters was simply pathetic. He jogged around and played like a millionaire. Needs to lift big time next week, otherwise he's wasting his immense potential. A good goal he kicked though.

Jeffy kept us in it with his sharpness around goal and Harmes' gut running in the last (despite his horrible kicking in the first three quarters) was a key reason we managed to lay more tackles across half forward in the 4th.

Another solid game for Gawny, although Kreuzer probably broke even with him at the stoppages.

Our ball use this week was disappointing, particularly forward of centre, and we failed to move it quick enough. It was a pretty impressive coaching display by Bolton, but in the end, Goodwin had him at the end of the day.

Melbourne and Geelong will want to play a lot better than that next week. Both pretty poor against poor opposition.

And finally, what I said about Oliver before last game (him passing Cripps by the end of the year) looks to be close on the money, if Clarry can remain fit for the rest of the season and he keeps getting support from his other mids, he'll get there.

Brayshaw reminds me of Trengove, very competitive but the pace of the game is a little too quick for him

Your first statement is not only over the top, but doesn't make sense. He IS an AFL player and will be for a long time.

I think he's a clear rung below Oliver and probably not going to be a superstar but he was solid last week and best 22.

Our backline ultimately won the game for us today I thought.  They got the job done, and more often than not it was the mids and roamers that let us down going forward. The McDonald's were both great. Jetta was great.  Salem. I think people underestimate our defense. There was a Carlton onslaught in the third and we're lucky we weren't 5-6 goals down the way we and they played. Our backline really held firm and our structure down back was superb I thought.

That's a positive to take out from today.

A year ago, we fold and lose that game.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
