You obviously missed the Brisbane win last year.

May have erased it over time. But we were a seriously poor team then. Today we were just seriously poor. I'll take the win but no way will I watch the replay.

Also, Maxy hexed Clarrie with his 360 interview.  Promised another 35 possession game - finished the game with 34.

35 touches according to the scoreboard.

I'll take a w over a loss anyday.

Mistake central.

Jones, Salem and T-Mac really solid and Garlett inspiring.

Tyson didn't need to come in as I said. 80% mistakes, his man beat him to the contest most times. Makes us look slower.

O-Mac will go straight out for Frost when Frost is ready.

Happy to get a win out of a performance like that.

Let's actually show up with some smarts and skills against Geelong though.

Otherwise #187 here we go

Just as rewarding a win as laat week. Why? Because we found out that this team will no longer lie down like [censored] when challenged by a team they are expected to beat. That the swagger of players like tracca, salem and harmes etc came to the fore rather than the "oh no i hope i dont fail" mental scarring we have seen so often by this team over the past 10 years (essendon round 2 last year being one case in point).

Ecstatic. Go dees.

Winning ugly is so much better than a creditable loss.  I'll be saving the Grange for another day, but sleeping easy tonight.

At the start of the game we had them on the ropes but overused the ball and played too cute.

This allowed them to get back into the game and get their confidence up.

Allowing opposition teams to play spare defenders in our forward line is unacceptable.

This guy is just a gun.

I found that many of his handballs today got us into more trouble than what he was under.

Quick handballs is one thing, but not to put the next bloke under more pressure. I prefer Clarry taking the game on and wanting to kick it more.

What really shits me off in the post match interview with Watts doppy Max says something like u didn't play in a couple of the JLT games and probably don't want to talk about it but is was a tough game today. WTF.

BLOODY [censored].

EDIT: Forgot to mention Harmes. Not his biggest fan but his disposal was clean today and ability to Dustin Martin his way out of tackles incredible for his size. He stays.

He was tough today, liked his game.

I thought Salem was great today, he is such a nice kick.

Jeff was super, love the pressure he is putting on now, kick goals and do that and I'll be a happy man this season.

One thing with Clarry, he's almost too good on the inside... A couple of times in the first quarter it seemed like players were setting up for a ball up as he was tackled and he got it out, saw Jonesy running back to set up and if he hadn't he would have got the ball.

Following this team is never good for the nerves, but I'll take a win over a loss any day.

Salem was a CLEAR best on ground.

Garlett probably won us the game in the end though. Best game he's played for Melbourne.

This game was awful. I'm banking the points and the top 4 ladder position, and I'm erasing the rest.

Before the free game today fox footy showed that we have youngest list with also the second least games experience wise. If we can keep developing there could be good things ahead. All I took out of today was that we managed to grind out the win instead of me walking away hating the team after losing another game.

I thought we did quite a lot right but our skills let us down, I reckon you'd always prefer to get in good positions in the first place

Relief.

Midfield decidedly ordinary for most of the day. Overuse of the ball was ridiculous at stages. But we ground it out which is promising, albeit with Docherty doing us a huge favour at the end.

Salem and Jeffy were terrific. Jetta and T Mac stood up at important moments.

Bank the 4 points. Raise a smile at being 2-0. Look towards a better performance next week.

.

Pretty much bang on what I was about to write line for line. Would add Melksham to the four you mentioned. Thought we lacked the spread and use of angles to move the ball that we did so well last week.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
