A great game of footy from Pies and Dogs.

Pies midfield of Pendlebury, Adams and Treloar was very impressive. Their backline looks fragile at best.

The Bulldogs in full flight remind me so much of Geelong 2007 - 2009. Freakish quick skills. Murphy and Bontompelli are just so good to watch.

The Pies midfield is really good, so skill full. Adams is such a gun.

Doggies just looked under done to me, all the same instincts were there but they just couldn't quite execute to the level they did at the end of last year. They are building back into it and will again be a chance for the flag.

Pies if they play with that endeavour every week will square the ledger, if they drop off slightly it will be curtains for Bucks.

Statistically the Pies won the game in most facets of the game. When you win the clearances 43 to 25 and have more contested and uncontested possessions you should win. Even their %age of disposal efficiency was only marginally behind the doggies.

In the end it was a few weak links on their part and maybe had the mark been paid to Moore, they might have brought home the bacon in the end.

Agreed, TGP.

I would add that the pies don't have much of a forward line:  Talls: an inexperienced Moore and part timers White and resting ruckmen; Grundy/Cox.  Small:  Fasolo, Blair, Varcoe.  They outplayed the dogs with i50 and marks i50 and worked hard defensively to keep the ball in but they just didn't have the players to goal and eventually the dogs got it out and the pies were opened up a few times out the back..

Had thought we could pencil in wins vs the pies this year but not so sure now.   The pies have improved a lot and will get better.  Have we improved more?  Time will tell.

The Cheats have started well

Who do I support tonight?  I hate both teams with a passion.  I think I hate the Bummer supporters cheering drug cheats more, though, so I think I'll end up hoping for a Hawthorn win.

Hawthorn / essendon game looks in slow motion compared to the melb/saints game

I was just thinking the same thing. And the Hawks looking very pedestrian.

Whorethorn are a shell of what they were.

Will Essendrug run out of gas?

Neither side are doing much, really.

Hawks are certainly not the same side they were, but it was bound to happen.  Guys like Gibson and Burgoyne aren't far away from retirement either, so they will certainly slide down the ladder in the coming years.

This game is driving me insane.

I hate Hawthorn and watching them struggle across most lines on the ground is delightful. Wiping the smugness of their faces (including those of their supporters) is priceless.

But, Essendon is being celebrated, rewarded and idolised for cheating and that makes me sick.

This is simultaneously win-win and lose-lose.

Edit: Also, the third man up rule is a farce. That free kick against Merrett is pathetic.

Yep the 3rd man up is a complete joke.

Could cost a flag just because a player is marking an oponent

Wasn't so much a case of third man up as man in the way. Hasn't that always been liable to lead to a free?

Very conflicted on what I want to happen in the Hawks v Bombers game, the Hawks have been so good for so long so seeing them lose is always a good day. Although bombers fans will be insufferable if they win.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
