Brownlow smokey?

He had better be very careful.   If he gets too close* to Dusty I am sure somebody in some corrupt body will ensure that he gets rubbed out for a week for a trumped up charge ?  Betting agencies would be appalled were Clayton to come from nowhere

* and don't give that AFL BS that nobody knows how the votes are running

I think betting agencies would love Clarry to win - all the money's been poured into Dangerfield and Martin.  Only a handful of Melbourne supporters would think he has any chance.

This kid is now 5th for total disposals, 2nd for contested possessions, 5th for clearances, 10th for centre clearances and 3rd for tackles for the entire competition. (Source - afl.com.au/stats)

Completely absurd for someone in their second season who only turned 20 a few weeks ago.

Seems to be flying under the radar of most supporters and experts alike, I wonder if his 'dive' has taken the gloss off the most complete second year I've seen from any player I can remember.  Or does his high handball/kick ratio make him a bit less flashy and eye catching?

Regardless, he is as important as anyone in the team now and I love him.  I remember a lot of supporters hit the roof when we drafted him ahead of Parish.  I'm sure Parish will be a gun but for now it looks like a great decision.

Yeah that was ridiculous.  If anyone had cared to take a look at both their TAC cup highlights they would have considered it an absolute no brainer.  Have a look at them again.  He was insane.  And he won the B and F, the Norrish Medal I think it is.  Playah!

Hes on the verge of becoming the first player in the long history of the Melbourne Football CLub to average 30+ disposals in a season.

Clayton Oliver: Deserves to be in the final team based on his consistent output in a breakout second year at AFL level. Oliver has averaged 30 disposals, including 10 games above 30 touches or more, and 6.8 clearances per game. Gets criticised by some for over handballing, but his hands in heavy congestion are elite and almost unrivalled.

Our Clarry only needs 18 more disposals this season to hold the MFC record for most disposals in a single home and away season. And he's only 20. Absolutely blessed to have this kid at our club!

Wow, sensational achievement! People can say all they want about stats being inflated but that's still a great effort.

In a way for a hard tough inside gatherer stats may be more relevant than for a flashy outside releaser.

Right back to the days of James McDonald I often thought what a quiet day he had had and was surprised to see 30+ disposals.   Same for Clarrie....I reckon, live at a game, I would remember seeing maybe a dozen or so. But what an impact he is having!

I like the example. Especially when Junior would get those 30+ and do a good tagging job in the meantime

Almost paniced that Oliver was a late withdrawal when I saw the headline pop up.  Great article.  Based on Oliver's and Pedo's performance this season, I think the standard recommendation over the off season should be for all our players to eat well, get on the Pi [censored] (act of drinking beer) and stack on the kgs.

Good article.  Thanks.

Sounds like Clarrie can add wisdom to what he has learnt this year:  ' "I deleted most of my social media so I don't have to worry about it too much now,"

Its a smart move - he doesn't need the distraction and the media hysteria thrown at him this year.  Let his football do the talking - and right now it is shouting:)

I love how his professionalism has come on. He seems like a very coachable kid, even if he needs a slight nudge at times. Bodes well for the future

Will Oliver be in the same class as Danger or Dusty? Who will be the Dees next Oliver within the club or someone we can recruit ?

12 clearances from our single season clearance record currently held by Beamer. Not sure if clearances in finals count, or if it's for just the 22 weeks.

Highest possession average for a season is held by Jones in 2016, and stands at 28.05 for 22 games. That's 617 touches.

Clarry has 629 and broke Nathan's record in the third quarter on Sunday. If he gets 31 touches against pies, he'll crack 30 for the home and away season.

And he hasn't even started planning his 21st.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
