I have waited a long time to feel confident again. Well done Membership dept for this great achievement.

Has the Club commissioned that sculptor yet for the bronze statue of PJ?

As long as it is not the same sculptor who presented the Ronaldo sculpture. Did you see that one? Horror of a thing.

I wonder how many unique members we've had over the last 5 or so years. Someone earlier mentioned about 4k who haven't rejoined from last year, you would think that might be about 10k over the last 5 years (assuming some may drop off then sign on again a year or 2 later)

I don't want too many members , I might struggle to get Grand Final tickets !!

Come sit with the riff-raff in the GSS. As far as Melbourne AFL club support members' go, there isn't exactly a massive queue. Virtually guaranteed a GF seat should we eventually get back there.

So since PJ arrived memberships have gone up close to 9,000 which is nearly 30%.

I wonder where we can get to over the next few years with some sustained success. Starting next year, doesnt' look like its going to be this year. As an example Buddy has been at the Swans for just over three years. In that time their membership has gone up from 35,000 in a Premiership year in 2012 to 56,000 3 years later. Apparently Buddy had paid his entire 9 year deal off within the first year with his impact on memberships, attendances, apparel etc.  In the next few years if Jesse gets his act together he might start having a similar impact although there is and has only ever been one Buddy. The guy does things no one else has ever done. Worth the cost of entry.

All comes down to winning. And winning only...

Goodwin must be filthy with their first half effort last sunday

Clearly, a lot of supporters were not as disappointed with the Hawks game as many here on Demonland.
300+ have put up their money since the weekend!
Good on them for backing the Dees!!

Oh i so hope that Craig guy who sent his cut up membership into SEN is seeing this?

That is what I thought deebug!

If any of the players named by Craig B or the team felt deflated by his letter and the heavy handed criticism by club legends (Lyon and Ox) then Goodwin can give them a pep talk with the new memebership numbers saying:  '...Supporters are right behind you and the team, and that is what counts... go out there and reward them and give your all...'

Go Dees!!

I for one can never understand why people would want to waste time and effort in cutting up their membership.

And as you said Lucifer's Hero us true members are with the club; oh and as a bonus we have our memberships in tact.

Remember Lucifer.

More supporters mean more members that associate mediocrity as a good thing.

Major indictment on those clubs imo. They've played in Grand Finals, Prelims, finals, and we've been crap for a decade.

And StK sold a mountain of memberships on $1 deposit.  While North has 3,000 t0 5,000 members in Tassie.

And we are not too far off Carlton who have 46,426.  For some ungodly reason they are considered one of the Vic 'powerhouse clubs'.  This false status gives them umpteen home games at the G (at our expense) against the high membership clubs like Ess, Rich, Haw, Coll.  It also gives them numerous FTA games in some prime time slots.   It sure helps to have friends in high places and an ex captain head of the AFL.

Id put it down as inertia. The momentum will have dropped off after the Hawks. Will all but come to standstill after Crows.

Thats not negative nancy, just a 'what is '

41 or thereabouts a sterling effort by the deluded faithful.

Time for the well paid to start repaying that faith or it'll slide back quicker than a rat down a drainpipe.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
