VFL GRAND FINAL - CASEY SCORPIONS v FOOTSCRAY BULLDOGS

Big week for the Melbourne FC and Casey Scorpions alignment.  It matters for the development of the youngsters and recognition for those who has supported the club.

Big challenge though as the BULLDOGS SMASHED COLLINGWOOD BY 117 POINTS.   Bulldogs have a FULL LIST and no need for eligibility to apply (will play 18 AFL full listed players).

Demons need to support Casey and pick the best team possible.  Question mark over Salem who could have been critical against the Dogs.

Jeez Salem's having some bad luck, thyroid issues, hammy issues, helps Casey get the GF only to be concussed in the prelim and would have to be in doubt for the Granny.

There doesn't appear to be any doubt that we're getting behind Casey in the finals which is great to see. I don't know what the BOG medal for the VFL grand final is but I reckon Clarry would be a massive chance at it. Finals were made for guys like him.

I think Hulett will also come back in.

I think one of Scott, Morris or Munro will miss out.

I think Ferreira will stay in for his pace and x factor.

I didn't see the game, but when I looked at this last week, Scott had been in the seniors all year where Morris and Munro had been in and out. Might give some idea on possible pecking order.

Scott really struggled to get a touch against the seagulls.  Rarely sighted until late in the game.  But has positive form before this game, so who knows?  Salem will be a big loss.  Hulett would come in, and Terls, I would think.

good luck to Casey.

Wouldn't Grimes also come in?

18 listed players? That'll be a tough ask, but if the Scorps get up it'll be huge. Can't wait to watch it!

18 AFL listed Dogs? No way.

The Dogs have 44 on their list.

23 go to Sydney and maybe 1 comes back to play on Sunday = 22 available

They've got 7 injured http://www.afl.com.au/injury-list = 15 available

Crameri won't play and Goetz didn't play in the PF = 13 maximum including Hamilton and Lynch who have never played AFL.

They may not risk them all on a 6 day turnaround if they win in Sydney but have some injury concerns.

We should have at least as many, we had 14 in the PF, all with AFL experience.

Also no way the dogs will have 18 listed players given their injuries, and they will be taking a large squad up for the AFL Prelim.

Footscray won by 119 not 117

That was Salem's 2nd concussion for the year, so there is very little chance he will play next week

Hulett will be another In, as well as Grimes and Terlich

Finally, Casey beat Footscray by 70 points just 2 weeks ago.

You should check you're stuff before you post dude.

If someone doesn't mind answering a stupid question from an interstater, what is the relevance of the Peter Jackson VFL naming? Is it a company/sponsor or an old VFL stalwart etc?

Your first guess is correct, they are the major sponsor of the VFL

I hadn't heard of them as a clothing company and assumed the Tobacco advertising laws still applied.

Thanks for the info.

Once again the club’s top goal scorer but he had a few uncharacteristic flat spots during the season and the club will be looking for much better from him in 2025. After sustaining a torn ACL in the final match of the 2023 season Jake added a bit to the attack late in the 2024 season upon his return. He has re-signed on to the Demons for 1 more season in 2025. Date of Birth: 12 August 1991 Height: 186cm Games MFC 2024: 8 Career Total: 229 Goals MFC 2024: 8 Career Total: 188

2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. The first round draft pick at #13 from twelve months ago the strongly built medium forward has had an impressive introduction to AFL football and is expected to spend more midfield moments as his career progresses. The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #13 Clayton Oliver

Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. He carried injury right through the back half of the season and was controversially involved in a potential move during the trade period that was ultimately shut down by the club. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury.
