Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think PJ's comments have been blown out of proportion, but I still think it opens the door to ridicule and makes us an easy target.

It was a smooth transition and we've improved our credibility from a business and cultural standpoint, but we're a long way off being respected by the league.

I don't disagree with Eddie. Someone's dished it and he's hit back.

Eddie was always going to hit back because he can't help himself, he's a narcissistic egomaniac who just can't accept even the most minor criticism. In the end, who cares, if we beat them on QB, we can have another dig at him and if they beat us he will reciprocate, it's all part of the game.

Eddie belongs with Sam in a bygone era, time has passed them by and they still think that bullying and intimidation is the way to go.

On another note, I wonder what the potential coaches we approached, the ones who turned us down, are feeling now, irrespective of what happens, it is accepted that we have a vey talented list and all they can do is wonder what might have been.

Personally, I think that Goodwin has been, at least, the co coach over the last 12 months, it is essentially his game plan that has been implemented.

I don't disagree with the comments above about stoking fires and resurrecting rivalries that had become a little "forced" if 20,000 more come to QB next year i will buy PJ a few beers...

But we better win some early games next season otherwise incoming fire will be thick and vile

Then we will have to learn to deal with that.

Sure. But lets win a few before we say anymore. I am sick of talk.

I like the walk

The recent walk against the Pies has looked pretty good from this side of the fence SW. Might help to explain Eddie's 'snappy Tom' quick fire response!

Yes. We have treated them well lately.

Let's do it in September when it really hurts.

As long as we're there and they aren't! I hope they keep sliding! :P

PJ's comments clearly struck a nerve, but  then it's always best to just focus on your own club than drag the other clubs into an announcement. That said I don't think PJ said anything wrong, the transition was poorly handled and Malthouse (and some players for that matter) said he didn't want to go.

Our transition has been very smooth, but the proof will be in the pudding this time next year (hopefully).

Agreed.

I've got to wonder if PJ just threw that in for a laugh; I can't see any other motivation.  Who hasn't on occasion got some kicks from throwing a hand grenade at someone known to be volatile?  I have visions of PJ sitting in his office just having a chuckle after hearing Ed's comments. :pj:

He would fit in well on dl with that approach

"From now on no more Captain Nice Guy from me, I'm sick of people reinventing history on this sort of stuff.

"Look forward to seeing you on Queen's Birthday."

Sounds like a threat to take back his charity of letting us have the QB gate to me.

Couldn't possibly be looking forward to the footy side of things, they haven't gotten near us for 12 quarters in a row. And I can't see that changing.

Didn't take it that way myself, don't think Eddie's smart enough for that. He's just saying, "we'll see how chirpy you are when my team beats yours next year."

Make no mistake though, if we face sustained success in the foreseeable future, and QB becomes as big a blockbuster as Anzac Day, Eddie will absolutely demand alternating home games annually for the match.

Watching Goody on AFL 360, all I'm getting is, how the hell is Robinson on tv?

I don't watch a lot of television, so don't have a lot to compare him to, but this bloke can barely speak. Asks the most mundane and banal questions.

This hurts my brain. I actually feel dumber watching this.

Here's the thing about Robbo.

When he's on the radio at say 12PM ... and he seems to have several daytime spots on SEN ... he can surprise with his grasp of the game. When he's not wearing a EFC duffel coat, if you can suffer through the tortured verbiage, he can make very good sense.

He still has trouble holding a coherent train of thought for more than a couple of sentences. But the points he makes are often fair and insightful.

Now, leap ahead to about 6PM on a Friday night, previewing a game with Huddo and Brereton. Not quite as on the ball. Interrupts constantly, mangles his words, and makes numerous gaffes, not picked up on by his fellow talking heads. (Last Friday, talking about the WCE-Dogs game, he said "the pressure stepped up ... it was finals-like pressure".)

And on the late night gossip/analysis shows, that's when he appears at his worst. There have been a few where he almost seems not to know where he is.

Somehow, as the day wears on, his performance appears to suffer.

It does beg the question, how is he on TV?

Just listened to the 360 interview for the first time.  Slobbo must have something on someone in senior management at the Hun and Fox, to get the gigs he does.  Fair dinkum, the guy is at best cringeworthy.  Goodwin did remarkably well given the banality of the questions which were thrown at him.  If it were me being interviewed I would be forced to ask the question are you for real mate?

Robbo likes to make out he is a wise philosopher who thinks deeply about the game however he comes across as a babbling bogan. He writes better than he talks probably thanks to a good sub-editor. That interview with Goody was excruciating - wanted to throw my shoe at the TV screen

Hopefully somebody will put it on Youtube. I haven't thought of Slobbo in months. I was hoping he might disappear

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
