Bernie Vince will be happy.

I'm sure he'll get over it.  If Sanderson ends up being a terrific assistant coach to Goodwin, then I'm happy to Vince to be annoyed about it.  He'll only be on the list for another couple of years.

Sanderson would only be with us for 1-2 years...he wants a senior gig

Given Richmond and Collingwood could be looking for new coaches next year I would be surprised if he was with anyone as an assistant longer than a year. You could even argue Freo if they dont find a way to rebound with their injury list shorter. Thats not to mention the Suns if they fall in a heap again next year Rocket will be under pressure, injuriy list has protected him for now but that will only last so long.... And Scott will be good as gone if North fall as we expect them to, cant imagine him being tasked with the rebuild. Add in Hinkley if Port dont improve. Brissy probably firing Leppa now to get the best available because  there very well could be a large selection of coaching roles available next year.

Can he realistically expect that to happen?  He was sacked after three years, and even wrote this article on why he thought he got the sack.  It's tough at top and only a very small number of these opportunities come along, I expect once you've crapped in the nest once, you're pretty unlikely to get invited back in to it again.

Didn't seem to bother Cross...with McCartney.

McCartney wants a senior gig, even went for one last year. Any problem with him?

Oh I have no problem with us getting him. I dont mind an assistant coming in for a year. If he gets promoted to a senior role then that probably means he was worth having for that year. I was just agreeing that it would be very unlikely he would be here longer than that

We would have to be a chance to get him, as if he goes to Pies and they have another poor year, Buckley will get the chop. Then new Coach could bring in all his own assistants and BS could get the chop with Buckley.

I am a big fan of people who have been to the big dance (ie got themselves a senior coaching gig), been rejected and reflected on their own performance and then come back with some humility. He seems to me someone that would be significantly better the next time round as a coach (or assistant).

Yes from me,

Yes from me,

Name me one. Was listening to SEN yesterday and they were discussing how first time coaches who get sacked never get another gig. Also saying they should be able to. Mentioned Ratten and s couple of other currents who it happened to.

Given that history you'd want to be careful being a first time coach going into a basket case like Lions. That's why I always thought Roosy was the only person to fix us.

Either that, or Buckley gets the chop and Sanderson gets the gig

Unlikely as a mate of Bucks, but you never know

I was really trying to equate it to life and didn't word it well. It clearly happens in areas like politics quite a bit.

In footy I guess Norm Smith was rejected as coach of Melbourne and went to Fitzroy before returning to melbourne as a highly successful coach. Not quite the same but has some bearing.

You're right though. Very few coaches get a second chance. Malcolm Blight might be one of them that was successful a second time around..

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
