I don't want Prestia. I've just been watching O'Meara playing. He's sublime, once in a generation talent. The club should go hard and land this guy. He would make us a Premiership chance.

O My, he;s seriously good. He's every bit as talented as dangerfield

Fair call.... We do have the smallest injury list in the league.

Can't be all luck.

I posted on another thread that I thought he was the one we should go after provided we can be comfortable with his medical.

I think the list is good and deep enough that we can take a bit of a risk, depending on what GC want in trade.

He hasn't played in 2 years so they can't expect a Treloar style trade.

I agree not 2 first rounders but it would definitely be a 1st round pick

His trade value would be a really interesting debate, i suspect he's probably worth 1 first round pick given his talent and the investment the Suns have put into him, but given the financial side of a deal it would take to get him, that would reflect an Adam Treloar type deal so two picks,

i'd only really want him to come to the Dees if it was a trade for our second round pick and we didn't pay more than 500k a year for him, which obviously is no chance of happening

If his body can be sound he fits the bill.

Actually, most of it IS luck.

So twice in a generation talent?

Touche, although I'm suggesting he's in the next generation :)

A fit O'Meara could take us from possible finalist to possible flag chance.

Sometimes you need to play the percentages and others you need to pull the trigger.

Must have a close look at him.

Nope.

High Risk plus VERY high price.

Don't get me wrong, great player and all, but I don't think good value for us.

That said, I'd hardly complain.

Our best mids have come through the draft, except Dom and Salem, who were traded for with a pick.

However, if we knew he was fit and was gettable, you would have to try. He would probably cost a couple of decent players or our first 2017 pick and a player.

ATM being still injured, he would be a huge risk and would eat up a bit of salary cap as well.

2 top 10 picks according to Rocket. Compares him to Treloar in terms of quality and trade value.

If fit i'd agree, but O'Meara is not fit, in fact he has not play an AFL game for 2 years now. This significantly diminishes his trade value to either 2 x later first round picks, or 1xtop10 & 1 x 2nd round pick, if GC are lucky.

O'Meara is out of contract and if he chooses to leave, GC will need to accept the best offer that is given to them.

We took Salem in the draft, pick 9 (Salem) came with Tyson.

I'm sure GCS would say "fine, if you don't think he's worth it, we're happy to keep him anyway."

It's not a fire sale; if anyone wants O'Meara, they're going to have to pay for him like he is fit or they simply won't get him.

No from me too. We're almost at the stage where we can choose the guys that actually want to play for Melbourne. Unless O'Meara nominates us and then is prepared to come over for $500k (not going to happen), then we should stay away.

Correct. So only one of our best mids, Tyson was traded for. Now some will throw in Bernie as well, but I was making a general point.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
