But SWYL they were innocent. They told the truth but did so when the chairs weren't placed in the right order in the room....so it doesn't count.  Then they all accidentally forgot to name things on the drug forms because they were tired after training or was it that ASADA actually DOES have the records ( Hird siad he handed them over) but wont reveal them because they want to target the club. I feel sorry for them getting so picked on , for no reason, in the way they have been. I say give them extra draft picks this year and let jobe keep his medal...this is Aussie rules after all not the chinese swim team!

Exactly nobody knows except Essendon employees, because nobody has told the truth and they know it.

In future if any child is born with a birth defect to ANY of those 34 you aint seen nothing yet.

Seems like it well could be...but its what its going to take to get over the line that is the big issue. Got any mail on that?

Hard as a cat's head is the phrase often used about Hibberd. Hated him as an opposition player.
My only slight concern would be one raised by Tim Watson this morning, that he had a quiet 2015 after opponents figured out he completely lacks a right boot so kept forcing him that way. He went on to say that he still remains firmly in the Essendon best 22, although I think that's a bit easier than getting into ours at the moment.

Hasn't hurt Birchell or Gibson much 'Mach'...although the Cats in their prime used to push these guys & a few other Hawks onto their right as much as poss...and they would come unstuck.

I think it was their secret Hawk beating tactic.

I hope your mail is good.

Though from a semantic perspective even though often a distinction seems to be made between rumour and fact of course there's not necessarily a difference between the two. For example the rumour the Hibberd deal is happening might be accurate, so is in essence a fact.

My mail from reasonable sources:

Hurley offered 1.2 mill over four years by Brisbane but will stay in Melbourne

Melbourne unlikely to satisfy GC on Prestia

Hibberd a bit like Bugg - its the deal that will be the sticking point.

Posted

A very quick/broad scan of those Wiki-stats:

Hibberd of only 'vanilla' stature, Hurley a tall

Hibberd a back only, Hurley flexible back and forward with OK goals/game

Hibberd tapered/plateaued in 2014 & 2015, Hurley continued on upward trajectory

Hibberd a chequered off-field past (though may be seen as 'positive' characteristics for on-field? (not by me though...))

I presume the Goodwin knowledge/view is important against this 'assessment': remind me over what years Goodwin dealt with these guys? What are seen as the attractions of Hibberd - my general impressions from this thread are aggression and kicking (though one-sided?) And is Hurley at all a prospect?

$300k a year? You would have to be kidding. He'll walk in anywhere at $500k a year.

I do know that trying to force hibberd/hurley to walk for nothing is the best option for us. But, I'm 100% sure that won't happen. Especially hurley, he is not leaving. Hibberd may leave, he may not, but I know for sure he isn't going to go down the grievance path, none of them will. Someone mentioned we be hard nosed about negotiating becuase they deserve nothing less. We all know how they operate, we can't win that battle, we will have to satisfy them unfortunately.

That is so stupid. In the 2012 and 2013 drafts the AFL took away their 1st and 2nd round picks for both years. That would have been losing a pick 8,26 and 10,28. That effects any list tremendously. They also finished 7th in 2013 but were kicked out of the finals. Also copped a $2mill fine. And lastly banning 34 players from playing any kind of football for a whole year. That is no lack of punishment.

No i'm just not and idiot and reasonable. I also have connections to Essendon.

And you think Essendon have a good track record of knowing what they are doing over the last few years braysure? You might possibly be right, but your self assurance and lack of reality is Hirdesque to say the least.

I doubt that you are a Melbourne supporter, and its gutsy putting your balls on the line here so I credit your courage, but honestly, unless your name is Michael Hibbert you are speculating as much as the rest of us. Take a spot in the queue at the gents.

Time to head back to bomberblitz mate.

After looking at his  stats it showed a very good 2013 average 2014 poor 2015 and who knows how he will come through 2016 and in what shape mentally. I would prefer the club to look elsewhere for available talent. If in fact  Goodwin overruled Taylor for Melksham I hope he is very carefull with this player High risk in my opinion

Is that fact that Goodwin overruled on Melksham? Or just assuming because of the obvious Essendon link? Genuine question.

I think it was my post that suggested that could be the case so I shall elaborate a little.  I heard an interview with Goodwin during last year's trade period and our interest in Melksham.  Goodwin was asked whether this was his 'captains choice' (a phrase somewhat in vogue last year).  He deftly side-stepped the question and waffled on about the need for a backman etc.  I had the impression it was his 'captains choice' hence my phrase about 'pulling rank'.

Didn't mean to start a rumour so clarifying how he sounded to me.

Realistically, tho it wouldn't be the first time a coach has exercised his 'captains choice' - it happens all the time.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
