Changes are okay. Would prefer Pederson to Dawes and oscar is a worry.

Great changes. Agree with all of them. Frost to play back too. Be very interesting to see how he goes.

A big weekend for me. If we can somehow beat Hawthorn it'll be the first step in converting my fiancée (of nine years) to the mighty red and blue.

If you haven't converted her yet you are lacking persuasive powers. Buy her a membership.

We just lost 140 games of experience from our already faltering back-line for a fixture against the Hawks. Yup.

Yup makes perfect sense Skuit.

Generally good changes but I'm disappointed both Harmes and Kent have retained their places, yet again, whilst Kennedy is dropped instead.

I'm confident OMac has held his spot because Garland was already out. I don't like it, but so be it.

Grimes' time at this club must surely be coming to an end if he couldn't get a game this week.

Excellent changes as far as player and type. We actually appear to have a more balanced structure. However Vandenberg after limited games is a worry with Oliver who struggles to play major mid minutes and Trengove who has not played at the level for some time. Can see us struggling to run out the game. I am also somewhat surprised one of Kent or Harmes did not also get the chop.

That 140 games of experience has given us nothing this season

I think the Oscar bashing here is appalling.  The guy has played 5 GAMES. 5 GAMES people.  He's a kid in a grown up game.  I heard Jade Rawlings speak about him the other night, and he asked supporters to focus on what Oscar does well, not just what he isn't doing.

I for one am pleased that instead of a bloke like Garland or Dunn who have no more upside, we are blooding a guy the coaching team sees something in.

Either way, the focus on a bloke that has played 5 games is absurd.  Let him learn the game.

We started dating in early 2007. The last time we won was 2006. Urgh. That might be a funny idea. She doesn't even want to come along with me this week. She's a bit scared of me I think.

I don't think we can actually afford to cut more than one of Kent, Harmes and Kennedy. Their pressure roles are vital to our forward press.

People are bashing him about not being ready. No one thinks he doesn't have a chance to make it. But at the moment he is a major liability in the back line due to his build, strength, endeavor and nouse. Let him learn those things in the VFL and give him time bulking up.

Well happy to see Dawes back to give Hogan a hand up forward. Obviously rapt to see Jack back and Vanders just gives us that bigger body in the midfield. Frost can help Gawn with the ruck and happy to see Oliver back.

I feel sorry for Dunn though. I mean a couple of seasons ago he stayed loyal and signed with the club, I know he hasn't been great this year but Id have him before Oscar this week against the hawks.

Yes this is a surprise to me. He's big and strong but I would have thought short of match fitness.

Poetic licence

I do ride some days, but only if no children want to come and the car is needed.

I lock it up with a massive lock outside the members.

And its an electric bike, so the ride up Johnstone st. is easy on the legs whether we win or lose!

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
