Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

I'm honestly so over this saga.

I feel for the whole Hogan family if the illness stories are true, but I'm done investing in players who burn us. Scully, Frawely, Hogan... We will survive regardless.

Make a decision and let us all move on already!

You're in charge of your own emotions, not Hogan.

IMO it's very unlikely that he'll play on without having the situation sorted before the season. I seriously believe there is 0% chance we won't have a definitive answer by the trade period. I just can't imagine any scenario where the club would actually allow a full season without him extending his contract. It simply won't happen. He is either at Melbourne next year having signed an extension, or he is in WA.

I am willing to bet that come October 10, the club will know his intentions. He will either ask for a trade back to WA, or start with the contracting process. There's no other option for the club imo.

Couldn't agree more.

As a club we don't need this going into next year.

My first input on this -

I can understand while MFC supporters worry about situations like this. We thought we had a gun in $cully, he left. Frawley left. Sylvia left. Howe left. Some of us wanted these guys to stay (I will openly admit that I was one of the misguided ones who thought every pre-season "Sylvia will tear it apart next year".  And for everyone of those players, they said the same thing "I will talk about my contract at the end of the year".

The club has done an outstanding job, particularly this year of re-signing its players. The one we are desperate to see stay is Jesse. Despite some comments on here I am willing to be 95% would be thrilled he has signed. He looks like the type of forward we haven't had since Neitz/Schwarz.

I can see all the pieces of the puzzle fitting together, we have a good young midfield, the making of a good defence (if O Mac stops the brain fades and kicking like Bambi). The forward line with Jesse/Watts and the potential of Weid to add to Petracca, Kent and Garlett looks dangerous.

I feel like we are finally headed in the right direction, and to lose Jesse at this point would be a real setback. We would have to ask 2 top 10 draft picks and a solid established player in return. Melbourne can't keep going to the draft, so presumably one of those top 10 picks would have to be on traded for a key forward - who? No idea. They don't grow on trees, hence the desperation to keep Jesse.

Don't look good more high picks no point, if he goes to wce then we need replacement darling is the only worth while trade, but top teams are greedy they want bottom sides to give up their best players and give nothing in return, his team can't afford to be out of the finals another year, all the kids want to follow a winning team, the MFC all ready lost four generations of supports through the 70's and 80's, now again they have lost at least two generations in the last 10years, the players will lose hope, am almost lost to this club been a member for 13 years, money is tight family getting sick of my bad moods after losses, if we don't improve next year then it's all over, the top teams will pick off all our best young player's, the kids of today want success now and have no patience

Personally i'm thinking the longer he is staying in Perth at the moment the better for the MFC. I think that it is self explanatory and we need to put ourselves in somebody else's shoes.

Maybe we should all buy one and if he leaves we could do something similar to Cleveland fans when Lebron left? JK

That must be old….. has the emblem from 2015.

People planning on standing outside my house are advised to bring their own milk crate.

Are you sure that is in Coles, I have seen similar in another type of shop.....through the window of course

That looks like a 34 year old Hogan with back complaints about to retire from the game as a 1000 goal legend. Nice eyes too

Franklin used to play for a well managed club...

I'm talking about harbouring young players from interstate.

Franklin didn't go 'home' did he?

He went to Sydney after spending eight years at Hawthorn, winning flags and warding off interstate interest the entire time.

How is it so hard to see that angle I'm coming from?

Franklin going to Sydney is irrelevant.

I was referring specifically to the idea that we should wrist slash because well managed clubs don't give up players. I think that's rubbish. They do.

Hogan via his agent may have been made a huge offer from a Victorian club that he has no real intention of going to.  A comparison is the possible huge offers that other clubs might have made to Dangerfield (including us, possibly)

That 'huge offer' then acts as the red herring - a sort of benchmark figure that can be used as a bartering tool.  And there might me more than 1 such offer - or, there may be no such offers.  We simply do not really know what is going on behind the scenes but anything of a realistic nature can't be ruled out.  Freo & the Eagles have probably made him an offer though.

Here are some of the factors at play that are feasible ...

  • The go home factor ... some sportspeople do genuinely get homesick
  • The attraction of playing for a team from his own state
  • His father's illness
  • The money on offer from any number of clubs
  • His possible 'loyalty' to the MFC
  • The offer on the table from the MFC (and the value of that offer)
  • His mates at the MFC and the friendships that he's built up at the MFC
  • The perception of the MFC from outside influences
  • The 'travel factor' if he decides to sign with a WA club (related to his back issues)
  • His thoughts on Simon Goodwin and the relationship that they now have ... he may have already met with Ross Lyon and/or Adam Simpson.
  • "The direction of the MFC" (his words and his agents words)

If he does decide to seek a trade then a deal will almost certainly get done (eventually) ... and that deal may well have already been discussed at length.

I hope he stays though and re-signs for a good length of time.

The thought has been niggling n the back of my mind that some Vic clubs  may have made a huge play on Hogan too. I suspect Collingwood for one. They have been keen on getting rid of Cloke for a long time.  Cox looks like a spud.  Been quiet in the pre trade stirrings.  Surprised that Eddie in his media hat hasn't weighed in on the Hogan speculation. If he has please elaborate. Remember the Scully saga, Eddie was all over it. Given the recent spat with PJ, it would have been in Eddie's playbook  to taunt us about it but he hasn't.  Anything is possible.

How's Simon Goodwin feeling right now.

Hogan's the bloke that you can build a team around.

He'd feel no different to a week ago.

Nothing has changed, other than a club expressing the obvious, i.e. West Coast, and some supporters whose emotions rise and fall on nothing more than idle speculation.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
