The second half of the year fade out is telling for me. Suggests he's playing hurt, or mentally checked out of the club. I reckon it's the latter.

One of the best young talents in the league.

Perhaps other clubs might want a key forwarding WA.

Demons need to show the rewards available plying with a team of talent his own age ready to take the next step. Beating the Hawks was an indicator of potential. We have a solid list with even better younger talent coming on.

We need to offer a performance based contract that rewards his individual inputs factored with team success. The better the team results the better the membership and marketing income the better the reward. Base salary plus individual increments based on goals kicked or assisted, b&f votes, rating points (tackles possessions etc) factored by ladder position.

Get Jesse on board he is seriously good

Can't believe (yes I can it's demonland) people are saying a poorer second-half of the season means his mentally checked out? By that logic Viney's gone too??? He's a second year player who obviously tired and may have played hurt a little, that for me gives confidence that he wants to be out there for us even if not 100% to do so.

Can't wait to see him with another full pre-season, plus I hope he evolves to be the leader of the forward line, while he commands the forward line at the moment due to being the bets player there, when he learn how to lead it and direct others we'll become significantly better and so will he. I loved the early season partnership with Watts, and think this will become huge if Weid joins them too.

Pretty much every club runs incentive based contracts, they all get a base wage then bonuses based on performance.

Lol, embarrassing for a power forward to be playing for free kicks like this.

This sums up my frustrations with him, he just needs to focus on doing the basics, leading, chasing, tackling. Needs to play a team game, it appears like all the media talk about him being the next big thing got to him as it did with Stringer.

Has been doing that all season, even in round one.  As with his wobbly goal kicking, defensive  efforts, etc, nothing much seems to have been done about it. Posters here  have brushed aside his deficiencies due to his age and experience. But fair enough, young players with deficiencies get to learn better ways in the seconds, He has been cut too much slack with no consequences  and poor attitude and NQR ways seem quite entrenched these days.

Idk whats more embarassing... Jesse's flop or Jeffy's miss...

But if Jesse hadn't staged he would have kept his feet and could have shepperded for Jeffy to have a better chance at goal.

Jesse is far more valuable if he doesn't stage nor stop playing when he thinks he should get a free.  Its part of life for a power forward.  We need him to keep making second and third efforts.

Hopefully, staging is another thing that Jesse gets out of his game over the summer as it is happening too often.

after reports he told freo to go fish about a month ago, we decided he was ours, now we think that he's left because of some poor performances?

Only the dopes.  And they repeat it all the time, so it looks like more think that way than actually do.

Agree, however, I hope we are wrong. He is the player that I cannot emotionally invest in. His second half of the year has been disappointing to say the least (for all the reasons already discussed). He really has the club over a barrel. The club will need to make a lump sum offer without conditions or incentive payments. Other clubs will just throw big bucks and a long-term deal without qualifications. If we don't meet or better any offers we will probably lose him. If we do lose him, the media will be critical of the Dees for not being able to keep him and cast a negative light on the club. There will be no standing ovation from the media hacks if we do keep him.

So the defender pulling the front of his jumper had nothing to do with getting him off balance, or did you prefer to ignore that to justify your post

Why don't we devote more anger to the reason why it seems this season Jesse doesn't seem to have been getting his due lot of free kicks when they are there.

Danaher is given everything, and last week it really stood out when he should have got a free kick, and he didn't. The stands erupted and barely minutes later ,things were evened up. I don't need to say how well Hawkins is looked after.

That is utter tosh, his jumper comes out about four or five inches and he was jostling with the guy, any excuse, I reckon we just lynch him and get it over with

Hogan would have fallen over also if your 4 year was playing  on him and applied that jumper tug.

Saty - I'm no fan of the Hogan bashing that's going on these days, but let's be realistic.  If you watch the shirt pull from Bews it barely lasts a second and Hogan falls over as if he's been shot.  It's not a good look.  As LH said earlier, had he been doing the team thing he could have laid the shepherd and allowed Jeffy to goal.

So youre saying the defender slightly pulling Jesse toward him somehow made him fly the opposite way?

LOL this guy.

Jesse played for a free with soccer style theatrics  it was embarrassing. And you surely know that.

Unless you are actually either Bews or Hogan, nobody knows exactly what transpired, just because a young guy has not signed a contract, even though he has a year to run, we have page after page of vilification, to me it is pathetic. He may have tried to make sure the umpires noticed, hey a forward actually doing that, come forward Thomas, Reiwoldt, Motlop, Stevie J et al, they have all done it at some stage

He is one player, if he signs great, if he doesn't we move on, 54 pages of twaddle up to now

The more you play for frees the less you get them.  You even start missing the ones you should get.  Gary Lyon became embarrassing late in his career.

Someone should have a word in Hogan's ear.

All of that is great Saty, but as I said, my view had nothing to do with his contract situation at all.  I'm purely looking at the footage - if it was hard pull on the jumper, or a long one, he would have been pulled to ground towards Bews.  Instead it's a quick tug of the jumper and he falls, theatrically, the opposite way.  He played for a free kick, plain and simple.  That's not me criticising him, or blaming it on his contract situation.  It's just what it is.
