Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Should Angus Brayshaw has 4-5 weeks off match footy then wear a Helmut.

First his knee sidelined him for 5 weeks.

Now 3 concussions in 3 games over 5 weeks.

Spirit, I'd almost consider putting him In mothballs until very late in the season.

Geez 28 is a big number for Dunn. The others, while impressive, are not surprising.

There will be pressure on the players tomorrow to perform, they have a few breathing down their necks, surely ANB will get a game next week.

Got to feel for Terlich, I'd say his card's been marked and he has played his last game for Melbourne.  From what Roos has said he doesn't seem to see Trenners back in the side any time soon, I'm not sure why he would be singled out and have to put his hand up to say he's ready to play AFL again.

No, that is Trenners, he wants to get a solid block of footy under his belt, testing the foot out, knows AFL is up another level, don't forget he hasn't played for 2 years

He (Angus) certainly is having an absolutely awful run of bad luck, when all was looking great for him after an amazing debut season.  Absolutely none of it due to conditioning or player management, thus far at least.....

IF indeed this is another concussion, he should see a neurologist / neurosurgeon for advice, but IMVHO he should be told to take a month off from footy, keep fit, and hit the reset button in July.  So what if he misses most if not all of this season if it means getting everything right?   There will be a place for him in our exciting midfield, meanwhile the likes of ANB, VDB can get a run.

What we and he do NOT need is a season of repeated knocks and him ending up like Roh Bail or others like him.

Are either (or both) of Weideman or Huelett looking like getting a run sometime later in the season?

Both sound impressive for their age.

Agree entirely. This is a boy who probably needs to be stopped/ protected from his own lack of self preservation.

Can we please get Brayshaw resting for a month? We inappropriately ran him into the ground last year and he clearly needs a spell.

With the depth we have currently, there is absolutely no reason we should be treating Brayshaw with anything but absolute conservatism.

Honestly I have no idea how he wasn't in for Michie this week, with Salem back.

I'd have to agree with that.

TBH i have only watched the Essendon/Casey game on the MFC website but it seemed to me that Michie's possessions seemed to be a bit more outside and gained more metres than ANB's which were more inside. If that is true and consistent then ANB is fighting for Tyson/Oliver/Jones/Viney's spots more-so than Michie/Salem/Vince's spots

The head gear helps protect against cuts and bone fractures but not concussion, which is more about the brain being banged around (for want of a better phrase) inside the head from sudden impact. As others have mentioned on another thread, the head gear can sometimes have the effect of giving the wearer a false sense of security and propensity to take greater risks.

Exactly what Nev Jetta was told last year when he had the same issue, the only 'cure' is 4 - 6 weeks of keeping your head away from contact

Should keep the pressure on Michie and Stretch (amongst others) to keep themselves involved this week.

Absolutely.  It's a great spot to be in - those fringe players need to play out of their skin each week to keep their spot with plenty ready to come in if they drop their bundle.

Great to see ANB dominate again, and when his opportunity comes, whether it be next week or in 5 weeks, he will hopefully be able to hit the ground running.

Another great result! Scorps march on at the top of the ladder. None of the experts had us pegged to be this balanced a side in this comp

Each week we have a rotation of midfielders racking up good numbers, forwards sharing the goalscoring load and defenders marshalling with experience.

We can now afford to take our time with key position prospects such as O Mac, Weideman and Hulett, giving them a good block of games to develop

their craft and gain confidence in using their bodies against bigger opponents. The loss of our skipper Panozza hasnt been as badly felt as I thought it would be.

Don't forget re all these 'young players', AVB due to return next week (or so) as well.

Having a decent run with injuries.

Good win today, was worried at quarter time. Can't underestimate the importance of having experienced players like Dawes, Trengove and Dunn on the field.

Not sure who ANB is due to replace, but whoever it is, they wouldn't want to have an off match.

And there you have one of the important building blocks of a good side.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
