I'd rather petition the footy club to work out a way of winning at Etihad. We're not going to make the finals until we do. Avoiding the venue isn't the answer IMHO.

When are people going to realise that playing at a stadium 3km from the MCG has no bearing in our game day performance.

Seriously that petition is the funniest thing I have seen for the day!

Cheers for the laugh.

Or, if we have to play a home game there, can it be at least against an interstate club, not a side that call Etihad home

The most valid point so far and the only point.

The thread can end now.

I don't mind the sentiment. We all complain about hosting home games at shitihad. The mcg is our fookin ground. The other Johnny-come-latelys can bugger off. Someone needs to tell the MFC and AFL of how we feel!

Good idea.

We still have to play there.

Our home games should never be there.

Thats the point.

Leave it to the other clubs that signed on there and get their home games OFF the MCG.

My issue with Etihad isn't the fact we don't win there. That's our problem to deal with.

The issue I have with playing games at Etihad is with the stadium itself. It is a soulless, concrete monstrosity.

I went to the game & have always hated that venue, I go every year at least a few times & every time I swear it'll be my last. Away games is one thing but home games should never happen there!!!!

I am a paid melbourne member with a reserved seat at the G, same seats we have had continuously for 21 years & at a home game for my club we could hardly find a seat I was happy with. We did ok in the end but there were no where near enough bays opened up on level 1 for melbourne members, no where near enough staff working ticket booths & gates to get the crowd in on time, as many supporters we know missed half the first qtr getting in. I just sat down in time for the first bounce after getting there 45 minutes early & finding a reasonable spot on level 1. There was no way we were going up to the nose bleed section after our whole family have paidfor top tier memberships, we pay that sort of $$ so we can sit where we like. I don't mind level 2 but thats not an option at shitihad. Further, I'm barely 6 foot average build, none of our party are fat & the seating felt squashed in compared to the G.

Did I mention I [censored] hate this ground?!? Win or lose, I really hate it. There's something so [censored] about it, which is probably why the AFL are keen to tear it down now & looking for the state government to bail them out. [censored] heads!!!!!

It is up to the Melbourne Football Club to learn to win games at Docklands. And it is churlish to think otherwise.                             Remember a couple of months ago we won a pre season game against StKilda at that very same venue, and we won the last game of the 2015 season there as well ( and witnessed by a "record" crowd).

I loath the joint, but every team plays there and so must we. However I don't like playing home games at the ground against tenants of the ground. But then again Essendon's home games against us have recently been at the Gee!

To see Geelong, Hawthorn and other top sides win and win often at Docklands shows to me at least, that the problem isn't the ground ( loathsome as it may be) but the Melbourne Football Club.

ps The petition, though well intentioned, misses the point. We have to be better there. Full stop.

What was the crowd figure to break even on gate takings?  17,000 or something like that?

Good luck not having to send a cheque to Etihad if we play home games there vs interstate teams.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
