Forget what EFC are saying, it's what they are doing that counts. They are trying to get their players to commit to the club, why bother if they are contracted and can't walk. Why the big fuss about Heppell who was also contracted.

Connors is out their seeking a deal for his player, he must believe his contract is is worth nix....

Good luck to EFC going back to the courts again, how did that work last time and the time before and the????

I wonder what their supporter base would do if they kicked up a fuss and jumped back into the court system again. They're the most delusional support base around, so I'm thinking their supporters would probably welcome it.

He's contracted until the end of 2017.

He will get a compensation payout.

He might want to leave the club he trusted who injected him with substances they've forgotten the names of.

He's likely to earn double what's he's on now.

He'd be treated as a DFA in resepcts of the compensation Essendon would get, which is none.

He would still get to the club of his choice.

Admire your patience ET.

Looks like it will be very difficult to prise Hurley out of Essendon.  Denham says he can only go via a trade.  (Not sure what happened to the AFLPA agreement that they could leave as dfa's...AFL quietly changed that????).

Denham says efc don't want picks but a like for like player:  Rance from Tigers, Hogan from us.  Ha!  EFC are ntoriously difficult to deal with but its laughable if they think either trade will happen!

I reckon wait till he is an RFA...2017.

Denham read that on Demonland, and thought he had a scoop.

Essendon are totally in breach of his contract, if Hurley wants to walk, he can walk, if they say no and he challenges it, i see no way he wouldn't win.

WTF Roosy?

Asked if suspended Essendon key position player Michael Hurley was a player of interest, Roos said he was a player every team would love to have.

“I think we’re all aware of what’s going on at Essendon and if you take a neutral stance, I think it’s great that they [Essendon players] are re-signing,” he said.

“It’s been a really tough period for footy and a particularly tough period for Essendon but I don’t think there’s anyone who hasn’t been affected by the situation at Essendon.

“We’ve seen that with Jake Melksham who came across to our footy club. Every club would love to have Michael Hurley but equally, I think if we’re all really honest about where we want to see footy, we’d probably all like to see him sign at Essendon as we’ve seen with a lot of the other boys.”

Who are "we", and why would "we" all like to see Hurley sign with the drug cheating club?

Roos, WTF?

Why cant just one person come out and say, "look, we all know what essedon did to their players, and we think our club would provide a new, clean environment for a fresh start for {said player)?

Is Roos just another apologist for the afl corporation?

Umm speak for yourself Roosy.

I want Essendon to become extinct, they are a stain on Australian sport and Aussie Rules will do just fine without them.

Roos is playing diplomat, and would certainly have more knowledge of the Essendon saga through his right-hand man Goodwin.

Has anyone considered how Hurley would take it if Roos came out and sledged Essendon? He may eventually want to leave, but there will also be some part of him that loves that club. Roos going on the offensive won't help us in any way.

I don't. Need teams that you love to beat. And they're hardly some vanilla club.

I want to see the club prioritise re-signing all of our core players. If we snag Hurley without giving up too much, then fine. But I want to see the club stick to its clear and deliberate recruiting strategy - it's paying dividends.

In this regard, I love the fact that we kept picks 2&3 a couple of years ago, even though at the time I was all in favour for trading one of those picks for an established A-grade midfielder.

In short, the club clearly knows what it's doing. And I back them to get this one right too.

Hate to be bearer of disappointing news.  Channel 7 is reporting that Hurley has started training with the core banned players, (which he has refrained from up til now).

A significant development suggesting he will re-sign with EFC.

If he and Hibberd are a 'package' and will stay together or go together then we could almost cross him off the list as well.

If true good on them for being 'loyal'.

We all move on. I am sure mfc will strengthen our defence with an experienced player.  Full confidence!

If true, I can only conclude that the whole damn lot of them knew exactly what was going on with the drugs.

And that might also explain why the club doesn't fear class action.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
