Er, no we haven't all seem them Maple. Mostly we've not seen them as we mostly use the ignore function. When others quote them we see them, unfortunately.

Not so much worried about Essendon, but I have a feeling it will be terrible preparation to play Norf the following round and we will get soundly beaten down in Tassie.

Memo to AFL

I would really love to go to the MCG and watch my team, Melbourne, next weekend. However having just watched last week's Four Corners I cannot in conscience contribute one cent to the club that has treated its players, for whose care they were entrusted but instead used them as Guinea pigs in an uncontrolled unconscionable foray into human experimentation, with such disdain.

Is there any way that I could have my entry fee totally diverted to the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute or a similar body undertaking ethical medical research?

If this cannot be arranged I regret that I will be unable to attend.

Are you a Melbourne member? If so it's a substitute game. I'm sorry but those who "boycott" the game because they don't want to contribute to Essendon are missing the point, if you are a member then that excuse doesn't fly. And if you aren't a member then get on board, or pay to support YOUR club and stuff the bombers.

I'm missing it because of work, I'd give anything to go watch it live.

Has the MFC been promoting that this is a substitute game for club members? A number of members I've talked to haven't realised they can enter using their MFC membership. Hope the club does a push on this during the week.

That's enough for me!

Not for me - we owe them.

I too am worried about losing this one but if we're well on top, I don't want to just win. I want to pulverise and demoralise them and give our percentage the massive injection we may need to play finals in 5 months time.

It was all over the G on Saturday (about the Ess game being a replacement)

I will not stand when said clapping happens, nor will i jeer or clap.

I too am worried we will lose this match, Daniher & Zarherakis destroyed us last year and i can see that happening again.

I'm guessing you didn't notice because you were intoxicated by the charm, wit and foul halitosis of bbo and Biff on Saturday dc.

I agree about the email.

The notice was in the walkways on the TV's and it flashed on the big screens during breaks.

i live in absolute fear of losing this game.

I don't think we will lose, but we must pummel their second rate team to show the football world that we have taken another step on our journey.  If we come with the right mindset, we will win by a big margin, and that will be an important signpost that a 'new' Melbourne is emerging.

Nothing I hate more than this, makes me sick when our cheer squad starts singing the song before the end of the game.

What? Why? I love it - when the games in the bag, especially if they get the bugler involved as well.

Crowley explained the circumstances of him taking the headache tablet (or whatever) on the radio a few weeks back. It sounded entirely plausible. He said he was obligated to attend a party with his girlfriend following a match where he had collected a knock to the head, He had a throbbing headache and wanted to go home. The girlfriend suggested that he take a Panadol or similar offered by the host rather than leave.

Other matters: whilst I booed Scully, I will not be booing this Saturday. The players that will be on the field are not the drug cheats - quite the opposite in some cases eg Zaharakis.

I think the march will prove to be amusing as there's bound to be a 'Not Guilty' or similar placard on display.

Crowd size: 55k, 15k Dees, 40k Dons (keep in mind that it's free entry for Dees members)

I think a serious booing as the Essendon team runs out on to the ground will suffice, our voices are already warmed up after giving it to Scully last Saturday.

I'm seeing the humorous side of things and going down to Fed Square before the game for a laugh at the whole charade.

The more people booed Scully, the better he played.

Let's  not fire  Messendon up with booing.

Let's demoralise them on the scoreboard.

Round 2 2013 - Essendon 28.16 184 defeated Melbourne 5.6.36 - 148 Points

I'd like to get a bit of pay back for that game...

Importantly percentage could be the difference in us sneaking into the 8 at the end of the year.  Banking a decent percentage boost versus Essendon is critical because all other teams will be trying to do the same.

We are in the most privileged position to be the first club to play the cheats in Melbourne @ their home game. Particularly they are doing some sort of "support walk" for the past and can you believe it banned players. Even a some sort of standing ovation clap.

We need to stand up for the rest of the non cheating players and clubs of this league / world who are somehow tried to make feel almost sorry for the dogs.

We need a protest for:

  • Every other club and player who does noes not cheat
  • The contrived sham which saw the AFL almost complete their negotiated outcome and play everyone like fools.
  • The contrived sham which saw the AFL treat us with more disdain for dare mentioning the "T" work while at least 5 other clubs did that and shaming us (Not to mention Jimmy and Bailey)
  • The arrogance of which their supporters have belittled every possible finding,(mexican hats, stand by hird et al)
  • The AFL players association who inexplicably stick by the 34 like fallen angels, without caring about the non drug taking other 500 or so who should demand a level playing field
  • Rd 4, 2013 when they beat us by 120 odd points, when juiced up with goof balls
  • The ridiculous Hird dragging the game through the courts and the mud for 3 years.

We need to do it not just for us but for every other fair club, players, supporter and sports.

Ideas?

  • I like the simple chant of CHEATS, CHEATS, CHEATS, CHEATS, CHEATS, CHEATS during the standing ovation. 30,000 odd chanting dees would out voice 30 odd thousand gay golf claps.

For the common Essendon supporter who was held hostage by Hird's failure to negotiate an honourable, face-saving outcome for the club and the players now cast adrift. the competition needs Essendon, it doesn't need their 'what it takes' façade, whether it be supplements or king-hitting players in grand finals.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
