There is no chance Tyson or Bugg get dropped, for those who have that delusion. Oscar injured, Harmes played poorly. Dunn or Lumumba in for Oscar, Gus for Harmes.

Despite the win, there were a few players who were sub par. The lack of a VFL game this week might save a few.

I think OMac out for Dunn, if injured, seems straight forward.

Brayshaw and Lumumba are probably close, so maybe Harmes. Lumumba for Matt Jones would have seemed likely, but Matt Jones has earned his spot and was good again yesterday, so he has to stay in.

Matt Jones on current form is cemented 22 - I don't think his name should have even appeared in this thread to be honest.

The only players who need to watch over their shoulders at this stage are Harmes, Bugg, OMac and one of Frost/Pedersen in my opinion.

Agreed. I feel bad for throwing his name out there. Was more meaning before the season, you would have swapped him out for Lumumba on paper, but going on form in the pre season and yesterday, there is no way he gets dropped.

They won't drop Bugg. He is exactly the type Roos is screaming for when he says that he fits the competitive type category.

His nab form was actually really good. Expect him to bounce back.

Some have mention the possibility of Lumumba coming in and releasing Vince back into the midfield which is really a fair enough argument. While i like Vince down back i feel we just lack that real class and skill around the stoppages yesterday.

Because its Essendon its not a bad opportunity for Lumumba to really get some miles in the legs.

IN: Dunn Lumumba

OUT: Omac Frost

Silly talk to drop Tyson!

The kid has played only 52 games so he is still in the development phase of his career.  He will learn, he will come good.

About half of his mfc games he played with injury.  The team needed him out there.

He has earnt the right to play himself into form:  In the seniors!!

Out: OMac, Bugg/Harmes

in: Brayshaw, Petracca

Frost to go back to cover OMac. I think he'd be a. Better defender than forward. Plus with Pedo, Watts and Hogan forward, were tall enough.

brayshaw in for either Bugg or Harmes. Not that either have done a lot wrong, I just think Gus is better.

unlesh Petracca across the half forward line

Looked like just cramping by the way the physio was working him on the bench. Was watching pretty closely when he came limping off

The position we are finding ourselves in is unless you are in form you don't play. Development on deficiencies can be done at Casey. He was a liability on the spread yesterday and his execution was appalling. I don't expect him to be dropped this week but players will make way for quality inclusions over coming weeks and he would be in the 4 most likely based on yesterday's outing.

Interesting when O-Mac went down we went with Pedo back and persevered with Frost forward. The forwardline certainly functioned better with one less tall but I would swapped it the other way.

i'd say the only certain change is o mac out injured for dunn. o mac wasn't even that bad yesterday.

we desperately need some outside pace - when garlett moved up on to scully on the wing we finally had someone who could run and carry with the pill, which is why you'd think garlett would be a chance.

i personally can't see pedo or frost being omitted; the forward structure with those two plus hogan and watts is working okay, and the pace of frost is an added dimension.

harmes might be in trouble for brayshaw's re-inclusion in the side, but if garlett goes for his hit (which might happen but would be pretty ridiculous as there was nothing in it), then he stays.

as such, i'm thinking changes are minimal:

out: oscar mcdonald (injured), harmes

in: dunn, brayshaw

No change, unless forced by injury.

That was a great win. GWS will be a finals wide this year and, as acknowledged by others, any Demon side from the past decade would have folded and lost by 40+. You don't drop players after a game like that, you reward them

Love Harmesy, but he just looked not ready for the step up in pace and his awareness and decision making was poor. Forward line was 100x better without Pedo, plus he could barely get his feet off the ground when running in the second half.

Bugg, Frost and Tyson all need to lift next week.

Actually..... I agree. Make it so

Being dropped is not the end of a career.

And at some point we have got to get to the point where talented kids earn their spot and are not afforded the opportunity to 'play themselves back into form in the seniors.'

Roos has brought an emotionless honesty to this club. Tyson better pull his finger out, there is too much talent on this list to coast.

Oscar Mac is still a rabbit in the headlights.

Harmes was good I thought.

Although Matt Jones does the right things most of the time he is too easily beaten one on one.

Pick one of Frost or Pedersen - both are not required. Don't give a flying which one, just make sure they take their bloke away from Hogan.

Oscar. Was. Not. Ready.

OUT: O McDonald, Frost/Pedersen

IN: Dunn/Lumumba, Brayshaw

Harmes     listen to his interrview after the game   which comes after the meeting      "I played my role"   he would have already had feedback   calling for him to be dropped just to get Brayshaw in os silly   Brayshaw needs a full run at Casey    the one I thought was below par and ran out of petrol yesterday was VDB  lucky that tired kick was sheperded thru by Hogan

Disagree on one thing. Feedback - there may have been basic comments come back but the real feedback comes after they have done the match review. I was talking to an assistant at another club and the review of the game can take 3 to 4 times as long as the actual game as they dissect plays and setups with a fine tooth comb. When they review the game with the players they don't show them the entire game - they see edits to highlight good aspects and poor aspects highlighting what they should and shouldn't be doing. The real feedback comes after the review is done. The assistant mentioned that at first he was amazed at how much the coaches actually miss during the pressure cooker of the actual game. Any feedback immediately post game would be basic and broad.

And yet Matt Jones is almost NEVER beaten one on one. Even when he was apparently a turnover merchant last year, his one on one wins were a highlight. Who are you watching?

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
