This is the same Jon Ralph that was swearing black & blue on SEN that Goodwin would be coaching Adelaide, whilst at that very same moment we were announcing that Goodwin will be our coach in waiting.

As i recall, it was John Ralph's revealing his "exclusive info" that prevented SEN from telecasting the Goodwin/Melbourne press conference.

The bloke is a muppet.

I'll tip 1 of essendons rare wins this season will be against us.
It's just how we roll.

Living in Perth, I sometimes miss the Victorian radio and the extra AFL coverage that the Perth stations fail to provide.

But not on this occasion.

If we loose to Essendon this year the leadership group as a whole should be removed along with Jones as captain. No this is not an exaggeration, again they are kids and players dragged out of retirement.

If that was the case it should've happened last year.
After both games.

Probably when Bailey was in charge.
Neelds or Roos/Lyons game plan won't allow it.

I labelled once before SEN as bogan radio - I rest my case. How these journalists are paid to talk such crap boggles my mind.

And the saddest part is he probably gets paid a shltload for being so bad.

When did we last put a side away?

Like seriously put away a side that we are supposed to ....then the last time i can think of was Carlton in 2004 beating them by over 100 points . Hope we one day rediscover that kind of winning mentality,  hopefully in Rd 2

I just hope Melbourne can give Essendrug a 148 point belting like they did too us in 2013!

You can lock that one in.

We totally fall to pieces the rare occasion the TAB opens us up as favourites.

Not sure why people are getting all upset, and throwing up things that Ralph has said in the past. The facts are that we are still a long way off being a finals contender, amd he is right to include us in his list. Maybe fanciful of him to not include Essendon, but that should be of no concern to us.

We haven't earnt the respect of the football media, and until we start winning games, comments like this from Ralph will be common place.

Not a chance.

We will beat EFC this season, put it in the bank...

The best wins in the past few years were last year's v Dogs and Cats - very satisfying but hardly putting them away.

Remind me.  Was that year 1 of "the good stuff"?   Beware - they have a new pharmacist in charge this year.

Without doubt Ralph has said one of the most bafonic things in recent memory. On top of losing 10 (??) of their best 22 they have also traded out Melksham/Carlisle/Ryder over the past two seasons. They are a team of kids and retirees.

Dads Army eh Aircon! But I remember Captain Manwairing, Walker and Jones all stood firm against the dreaded Hun. So you never know, even kids and pensioners can prevail if they realise the opposition, no matter how talented can be beaten because they have worked out their weakness - that is "they don't like it up em"!

You watch the old bastards tire. None of them will play 22

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
