Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yes.....I lost interest last summer and the one before that........Until they bounced the ball at the start of the season.....Then it is different somehow, all the bull**** is gone and the real stuff starts.

Then I can come on here and be told who is a Brownlow medallist, who we will cut after one game, why Watts is good/hopeless,  Grimes have every mistake underlined and bolded.     You know......Normal footy stuff.    And follow my Supercoach and Dreamteam sides and realise I have too many Melb players in it.

Can't wait

I wonder how Essendon could implement this now that the drug game has been caught out:

http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2016/02/how-pro-cyclists-cheat-using-motorized-bikes/

Except that there's only one, she's a junior and it hasn't yet been established that it was her bike. UCI have been openly testing for motors for a couple of years now, but this is the first time they've come across one.

Also, this isn't a cloak-and-dagger rigging of a bike either, the bikes in question are openly available online with a motor as a standard option. They're made for old blokes like me who like to ride but can't keep up with their younger mates ...

OMG!!  Dank still wants to clear the 34 players!!  A bit late I would think...

That article contains so many Dank utterances contradicting what he has said in the past it isn't worth commenting.

The only thing in the article I found believable was:  "Dank, however, no longer has detailed documents outlining what the players were injected with, maintaining these were erased under the watch of the club's former administration".

Very convenient.  Bit by bit the truth comes out...

Like so much Dank says it doesn't make sense. I cant see how running defamation cases will help in any way to clear the players names in so far as they are not going to be determining what drugs the players used, just whether he has been defamed.

In any case given he has been banned for life by the NRL and the AFL,  chose not to defend himself in either instance and an independent tribunal has determined the EFC players were administered PEDs by Dank i can't see how a court would bother exploring the player's innocence.

Add to that he doesn't have any records that one assumes if he is telling the truth would exonerate both him and the players. Which raises another obvious question. He claims EFC erased those records. Apart from the fact that is simply not plausible that he didn't keep his own copies (i mean come on) why on gods good earth would EFC destroy records that proved the players innocence.

I for one can't wait for his court cases.

It may well come down to his thought that he didnt inject banned substances. If he can prove he didnt then he could go after all who said he did as it was a lie and defamed his character. I would like to see him try as he has to prove they lied, not them prove they didn't.

I don't think that logic holds up, at least in terms of journo's as they are reporting by and large the accusations made against him and then the guilty findings. Perhasp Demitriou but my recollection is that his main criticisms were around the nature of program itself and given the EFC's own investigation famously called it a pharmacological experiment can't see how he was defamed.

In any case i doubt he can prove he didn't administer  illegal drugs and i also doubt a civil court hearing a defamation case is going to faff around and give Dank a forum to try and prove his innocence and attack his enemies.

The most incredible aspect of this entire Essendon  shemozzle that Dank needs to explain (and I bet he won't) is the consent forms that was given to the players.

Leaving aside the convenient red herring of thymomodulin (which was not on the list) which looks like a contrived afterthought desperately thrown into the ring to deflect the truth, there's the characterisation of thymosin simply as "thymosin".

Jobe Watson has been quoted as saying, "I talked to Stephen about Thymosin and he said there's a bad one and a good one, yeah," and if that's true then the consent forms should surely have specified which one it was - the fact that it didn't means that, as a senior member of the playing group, Watson had to get some independent advice about exactly what he was having ingested into his system.

Instead, he relied solely on Dank, not the club doctor or his family doctor and not even Professor Google. Fat chance that Dank will ever get him or the players out of the mess he helped to create.

It holds up if people reportes as fact that he injected the players with banned drugs and they forgot the allegedly part. Many jounos also attacked his credibility and qblamed him for all sorts of things. If they remebered the allegedly part they should be fine, if they forgot it then they may have issues.

Perhaps but only if he can prove he didn't administer a banned drug. However there is no way a civil court has the capacity to determine his guilt or innocence in this regard. How would they? They would have to repeat the entire investigation, which they simply won't entertain.

In any case he has been found guilty by the AFL and NRL and an independent body in CAS is comfortably satisfied (a similar standard to a civil case i would have thought) the players were administered banned PEDs. Surely a civil court would accept these findings, particularly in the absence of records proving otherwise.

Why would any company want to be associated with a sporting club that had 34 of its past and present players suspended for take illegal drugs or any of those suspended players?

Personally I would never consider buy anything from such an unethical business.

The AFL won't leave.

For all the noise, the AFL is going nowhere when it comes to the WADA code. They simply have too much to lose. The government and the rest of the Australian sporting establishment will come down on them like a ton of bricks. Australia for a whole lot of reasons cannot afford to thumb its nose at world sport. It is as simple as that!

Agreed, so far he has detailed documents about what was given, but he doesn't the players weren't given TB4, doesn't deny giving TB4 but argues that it isn't performance enhancing, just seems to be digging himself a deeper and deeper hole.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
