Roos clearly isn't happy with Petracca's toe! “It was a learning thing for him and we were obviously really disappointed in what he did because he was going really well prior to Christmas,” Roos told SEN... his knee was coming along really nicely, but it set him back 4-6 weeks.

It sounds like Petracca wasn't following rehab rules to me.

Roos goes on to say:  “He’ll be playing somewhere in that period ... If he trains really, really well and he starts to play well at whatever level, then he’s certainly entitled to a game...“That’s the process he’ll need to go through in order to do that.”

There is a slight hint there that no matter how ready he is he will not be allowed to play in the seniors in rnd 1.  A penalty perhaps?  He is going to be made to earn that first game and I like that.  Its really important that the club sets certain behaviour standards and if it means a player misses a game to do that so be it.

Methinks that Petracca owes the coaches and his teammates!

I heard the interview with Roos this morning and the impression I got was that Petracca will be no different to Bradshaw last year. If he performs in the preseason games and knocks the door down like Bradshaw did then he will play AFL round 1.

Just goes to show how the journos selective quotes can slant a story.

Did Roos sound peeved that CP had injured his toe or is that also the way he was quoted?

Thanks for the clarification 'rjay'

Not too sure how many pre-season games he's going to get. Could have to come back through Casey.

Roos is often hard to pick, obviously he wasn't happy about it but I think he got over that a few weeks back. It's all smoke and mirrors now, he's more interested in how Petracca comes up for round 1 whether it be at Casey or the AFL.

Ox was talking about the Demon fans and how we all can't wait to see Petracca, Roos was doing his no pressure on the kids routine and hosing down expectations.

I actually really love this now...it's interesting to hear the expectations of EFC & Carlton fans on their new kids, there's a lot of pressure on Parish in particular. It's all a bit like us a couple of years back.

Now we can slip in someone like Brayshaw and or Salem and let them play. I expect this will happen with Petracca, Oliver and Weideman this year...

Spot on.

Both Parish and Weitering in particular.

The wheel is turning for us. Finally....

Remember that Brayshaw played no NAB games last year because of injury. His form was so good in the Casey practice games he forced his way into round 1 so nothing is set in stone.

That's right and IIRC roos was saying much the same things about him, even suggesting he was unlikely to play early on. I reckon if Trac is fit they'll unleash him at the G first round

He fcuked up. It was dumb and exhibits his naïveté early in his senior career.

I'm not wanting to crucify him.... Just teach him.

[OK. I'm trying to Quote Mandee's post earlier in this thread and somehow it's coming up with one from Beelzebub from two weeks ago. I'll just post this and see whether it corrects itself or not.]

It didn't correct, so, apologies to all, but I'll leave this completely irrelevant post here so the Administrators can see it as it might help them with the software glitch.

If you start a post in a thread and do not complete that post and leave the thread the forum software auto saves that post for you in that thread.

When you come back to that thread and attempt to post that saved post will still be in the reply box. If you delete that post in the reply box before exiting the thread it will not be there the next time you go into the thread.

THIS IS NOT A SOFTWARE GLITCH.

This has happened to me when I've changed my mind about replying to a particular post, but for some reason I then can't delete it.

How does being in a moon boot, unable to run and encounter all of the football related movements, allow the muscles around his knee (whatever they are) to strengthen?

it doesn't,  but you can still walk & flex the knee in MB..   not in a sweaty cast above knee.

not all is lost.

would rather 'tractor toe',  than 'dr turf toe'.  ;)

If you have instagram Rob Jackson is seriously worth following. Provides the real insight into how the boys are training and always posting photos and videos. Some real elite and professional insight into a day of a pro athlete.

You're not wrong DD - this video of CP5 doing squats is seriously impressive

OH oh ... See the boys went surfing yesterday ... don't they know that they could cut their feet on rocks ... get a surfboard flying into the back of their heads ... get taken by sharks ... pull muscles getting on the boards ... break their necks getting dumped by the waves

Oh it's ok ... club sanctioned ... JUST DON'T PLAY BASKETBALL IN YOUR SPARE TIME ... far too dangerous.

I know Ben Newton has been injured, but he looks like one of the support staff...

I was thinking that as well, but also thinking it's not a bad thing. There are many players ahead of him for an inside midfield spot, what we need from him is to become a good rotation player with nice skills on the outside. For that to happen he had to get a lot fitter and if that means he's trimmed right down to achieve that then I'm not disappointed at all.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
