The Jack Trengove is BACK Thread

We have had many selections this year of players with modest / brief form for Casey - JKH, Wagner, T Smith, White, Kent, Stretch, J Smith

We got beaten in the clearances on the weekend and need some more midfield grunt even if Tyson returns

There is a 25 year old midfielder who is in the best at Casey every week and racked up 30+ possessions again on the weekend.

He also happens to be an exemplar of a resilient culture which appears to be a priority at the moment.

Let's find out once and for all if he can contribute at AFL level.  It's time.

Let's find out.

Give Trengove a go.

Goodwin would recall Blight coming into Adelaide and moving on jarman, mcguiness, mcdermott, and anderson while they still had some life in them and backing in the new crop of young blokes with success. Grimes and Trengrove might be part of the same thinking. Gee we treat our captains poorly in recent times.

Plapp always says of Jack in his summaries, he's playing very good VFL football, this says everything to me.

I'd love to see him get another game but we need to win games to get a shot at finals and if the club haven't seen him as an option so far this year, there must be a reason.

Is it remotely possible that because trenners has missed so much football that they are just playing him in the twos to get some continuity and consistency into his game. Then delist him and re-draft him as a rookie and have the mindset that his is now a mature age recruit of known quanitity and quality with little to no expectation on him? I know this sounds like fairytale stuff but we know that he was a very good talent. Surely he'll take his opportunity when it comes if it does.

Hopefully there is some plan like this.  He is perceived on demonland as old, yet is younger than Melksham, who seems to be backed in for selection.  If they are being patient he still has plenty of time, and plenty of upside.

An important step into the bargaining phase. There are many who are only just now progressing from denial to anger.

I watched Casey last weekend, and Trenners was clearly a class above the rest. So clean in his movement, a great kick and mark, and hard at the ball. He is no Jaden Hunt, but neither are Jones, Petracca, Tyson and even Viney. I think he still has huge potential. I would love to see him back.

I hope Trengove never plays again.

i wanted him back last weak in the absence of Viney, Jones and Tyson. For his leadership, tough body and footy brain.

Unfortunately, he wasn't picked. That says to me he will only ever be picked again if we are further depleted by injuries.

I loved you Trengove and you were part of the group that courted Roos.

Best of luck going forward, hope you can go back to the SANFL and play some good footy.

I listened to the Goodwin press conference and his statement about Trengove makes me really annoyed

"Jack is getting close and just needs to keep doing what he's doing in the VFL"

This doesn't make sense

i) Casey have a bye this weekend

ii) in a couple of weeks Tyson, Viney and Jones will be back.

Clearly the time to test him out at AFL level is now - when there are spots available and the team needs an experienced midfielder.

Finally you have to ask why does Trengove have to keep performing well over repeated weeks at VFL level to be considered - when this didn't apply to Mitch White, Joel Smith and others?

It tells me that Trengove would not be able to run out a full game at the top level.

4-5 years ago we would have played him under these conditions, but today the stakes are to high as a CLUB

We are in the mix for September now, not high draft picks.

Clearly Goodwin doesn't have him close to the best 22, so he's not going to play him for the sake of it.  So what else do you expect him to publicly say ?

You don't have to like it, but I suggest you deal with it.

Spot on.  I'm surprised people are still surprised he isn't getting a game.  He's too slow and whilst he has other great attributes his lack of speed is a deal breaker.

I'm starting 2 get annoyed with Goodwin he plays NQRs like JKH, Bugg etc.. but doesn't want 2 give Trenners a go.

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
