  1. Fritsch needs to look to bring his teammates into the game - he’s increasingly becoming more and more selfish. Some more team first acts needed.
  2. I’d be thinking it’s a very similar pace side in/out.. Petty and Brown don’t come across as speedsters. Jordan?
  3. Weid, Brown, May in for Jordon, Brown, Petty. Move Tmac to the wing, Brayshaw to slot in where Jordon was.
  4. Alan Richardson to sit in the box on game days? No Mahoney in there seeing he is more corporate now? Makes sense why they’ve re-signed Jonesy now
  5. You’re right it did say that they are “assessing all senior positions including the coaching staff and fitness department.” Would have thought Mahoney fell under that umbrella.
  6. Not much to the article just stating that it’s finals or bust for the off field team. All football department positions are under review including Richardson/Mahoney. No comment on if Goodwin is under review but you would assume so. Click bait on the Brayshaw/Viney comment
  7. Rotating and resting Oliver/Trac out of the goal square giving Harmes/Brayshaw some time through the middle could get those boys firing again while picking up an extra few goals a game.
  8. Why would you trade for a guy who has similar career stats but is three years older and has been to three clubs? No upside in swapping the two. Is Polec a leader? No is he a match winner? No Is he a team player? From all accounts No... Statistical comparison of the two in the link below, based over a career so far it’s even pegging. Even if you compared on this season and Brayshaw hasn’t been at his best and they are neck and neck - It’s Brayshaw everyday of the week for mine, you’d only consider Polec if you didn’t have to give up much. A swap of players doesn’t make any sense. Brayshaw has a higher ceiling and is 3 years younger. https://www.afl.com.au/stats/stats-pro#/Compare?comparisonTab=h2h&playerIds=CD_I290738,CD_I298279
  9. Brayshaw is a must keep. If Clarry or Trac get injured to have him there is a need. They should be looking at resting both those up guys forward more next year and while running Brayshaw through the middle. Having Clarry or Trac playing out of the goal square at times will only help Weid and Jackson.
  10. Agreed.. Built for finals! Will be the best sight to see him with that premiership medal - in the red and blue. ??
  11. Interesting chat about Yze.. hard to argue against coming from the school of Clarkson. Watched a clip of him being interviewed after a nab cup game definitely presents better than Goodwin (link down bottom) not that it really counts for much. As others have said it's pretty hard to get a good handle on how good assistant coaches are. Dean Solomon would be another one that would be worth looking at as an assistant or even Knights from the Cats.. or Mark Williams? https://www.hawthornfc.com.au/video/470973/press-conference-adem-yze?videoId=470973&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1455796783001
  12. Hate to be one of those posters who say they know someone etc... but a mate of mine got chatting to C. Beames (they have a mutual friend) at a qafl game and asked him about Schache. Mentioned the players are fed up with how soft he is and how much he whinges about being away from family. Not a popular figure at the club. I could be wrong but didn’t he stand himself down for the NEAFL grandfinal? Wonder if his attute would change being closer to family.. Can see why lions recontracted him so they can drive a deal over a number a years if need be.
  13. I see your point of view... which is echoed by he footy club. Isn’t right nor wrong i absolutely believe we should back the club in whatever decisions they make... But... Do you believe that trading him out in a so called weak draft year is going to have a negative or positive impact? Having spoken at length to two player sponsors I get the distinct impression that the handling of watts has the potential to have a huge negative impact on the on the team or at very least two players. We can all see he hasn’t lived up to the unrealistic expectations of demon supporters the FD and the general football world. He was never going to be our saviour. He really has been unfairly treated since day dot. Equal to that he has also not put in the effort in from all accounts. So they probably balance each other out. The point is.. if we got watts at pick 31-39 we would never be having these conversations. Sure he’s gone which is fine Melbourne and any afl team is far bigger than an individual. Lever will be great no doubt and we have players developing. I just personally can’t see the value in getting rid of watts. I’m not inside the 4 walls of the footy club or privy to the conversations they have had with him. The perception they have of him is different to some supporters which is fine. End of the day they are the experts trying to make the club better not f- it up. If emotion is taken out of the equation... watts vs the pick we will receive will be judged and compaired for the rest of his career. Don’t think the loss of him will make us a worse team but having him is a benefit to the forwards we have.
  14. As have I.. I’m talking about his football not him as a person. I think you’re missing the point.
  15. Didn’t say you shouldn’t have an opinion I said you’re a person focusing on the negative. Sure you’re entitled to your negative opinion as I’m entitled to my positive one. Which to my belief is two ways to look at the situation. Hardly an oxymoron.
  16. Again another person focusing on the negative stuff - typical.. If you’ve head Petracca talk he comments that Watts has been a huge help to him in learning how to be resilient in dealing with constant criticism. Always two ways to look at every situation.
  17. Neither will I but do you publicly criticise a player? Absolutely not - good successful cultures don’t do that. Melbourne have handled this poorly from the start. They’ve obviously come to the conclusion he’s not needed that’s not really our decision as supporters. They are the coaches... it’s interesting they haven’t been able to develop him they way they want him to train or perform. Imagine if we had a team of players who can win the ball but can’t dispose it to another player effectively. Teams are made up of players with different strengths and weaknesses..
  18. If you read what I said we have to wait and see what player we get at the pick we receive before we judge on failure or success. We could get a mythical pick 12 for him and pick another L. Cook. My point being is the player we know is sometimes better then the player we don’t know. Watts is a known quantity.
  19. Partly because he’s elite by foot/decision making.. his forward pressure actually doesn’t rate that bad. It’s just a lot of people have these unrealistic expectations of him. They’ll probably get a second rounder for him. Won’t be able to judge if it was a good or bad deal until we see what sort of player comes at that pick. Not really worth the risk as we know what we have in watts - elite kick, elite decision maker average contest player.... as Roos has said why not focus on what he’s good at rather than what he does poorly.
  20. Not bad. No real issues if they wanted to trade out watts but I don’t think the public criticism of him is what strong clubs do. Wouldn’t have happened under Roos. I think some players would be a little bit put off by that sort of singular commentary. Could have very easily been played out behind closed doors.
  21. Like flogging a dead horse but this is a horrible trade for demons. Will be hard to get someone with the same foot skills at the pick we get for him (not impossible). As all the so called experts have said all year Watts is the cream on the top. Not everyone can be a Viney or Oliver. Would have been good to see Lever and McDonald down back and Weids, hogan watts up front and have McDonald and watts run through the ruck or switch back and forward. If weids ever develops into a consistent performer like he has been touted to be (obviously only a 2nd year player) watts would have been great 3rd forward option. Very good kick at goal. Can’t help but feel - port being close to our level 5-9 this year will be far further advanced the us with the three they have brought in.. Will happily be proven wrong, definitely don’t believe it’s a dire situation but shipping a player out for the pick we will be getting isn’t ideal.
