@JToumpas: I am so excited though to start fresh at the @PAFC! A club that is based around hard work. It's a journey I can't wait to begin!

The hard work comment?

Are we not based around it?

Concerning?

id say we are but didn't like the comment

Can I make a suggestion to those that are livid, morose, suicidal, despondent or just a tad miffed.

It's not over. The whole trade/draft period must be seen as a whole.

Theres a start...and a finish...when draft picks used.

This years are only worth what you can get for your needs. They have no other value and each team will have a different value...just like currencies.

If Mahoney and co have a clear idea of what/who they want and can get it or near then THATS the yatdstick .

Its way too early to chuck hissies etc.

All things are relevant .

Its trash and treasure time

Chill...breathe...wait.

Just wait

Sounds like a 'Mahoney ball' formula

Lots of teeth gnashing....

We got rid of a mercinary who didn't want to play for us, who screwed up the plan A deal with GCS.

Toumpas wants back to SA, and the consensus was he was never going to make it due to lack of speed, lack of heart and lack of poise. Port did us a favour ( shows, moving back 3 picks means they have low expectations)

We targeted Kennedy, and got him.

We got a second and a third rounder.

I think this is OK.

If we do a bit more with these picks coming in, then we can judge the whole thing at the back end of the week.

I wish Toumpas well. If he wants to go home, we have facilitated it.

His value now has nothing to do with him originally being #4. He is an absolute draft bust, worse than Cale Morton.

To my mind he wasn't physical enough, never recovered from his hip problem, was nowhere near as good a kick as he was touted to be, panicked in traffic and under pressure, and couldn't get a game in a bottom six side for the last nine rounds of the year when we had plenty of injuries. He was probably homesick, and has been surpassed by players like Harmes, Stretch, Neal-Bullen and vandenBerg etc. who came much more cheaply in the drafts.

I don't know why anyone would expect more of the trade as his record wasn't good. So be it, we clean the decks and carry on.

Using the same calculator as Mahoney?

Gebus it ain't just Mahoney... How many people, including coaches would be involved? Quite a few I'd expect.

Such a lame comment. He might have well have said "a club based around football". Completely meaningless so don't bother trying to read anything into it.

Always worth remembering we got VB for nothing! Its all about the overall list balance at the end of the day, not the individual deals.

Bugg deal will get done tomorrow. Besides that, are we in store for any surprise deals for any players/picks?!

6 + 29 for pick 3?

He didn't mean it to sound like a veiled insult to the MFC. I wish him the best, always wanted to see him become a gun at the MFC but not to be.

Toump gone for pick 50. Reasonable price given his output and lack of potential

Kennedy and pick 29 for Howe is okay. Hopefully Kennedy can show it to be a win.

We certainly won't miss either player next year. Howe was absolute trash in at least 15 games this year.

I am going to give Jimmy the benefit of the doubt on that and say he didn't mean it as a slight on the Dees...

Earlier on he had tweeted this:

Will always hold the MFC close to me! Gave me an opportunity to live my dream and I'll be forever in debt to them for every memory!

I think he goes with a lot of goodwill and would it surprise me if he didn't feel the same towards MFC.

6 = 1751 and 29 = 653 so 2404. 3 = 2234 and added to 49 which is worth 287 would be a fairly even trade.

I reckon GC would say 3 & 61 (135pts) for a total of 2369. That way they finish in front (just) and we can get Parish. I would be very happy with that

Just joking. You're right - they're all responsible and Josh is actually a good operator.

Everything will balance itself out by Thursday - more good trades coming.

The best outcome for us will come in the form of the Saints trading out pick 5.

GC don't need the points. They don't have any academy players worthy of gathering points for this years draft.

They wanted Howe more for the marketing aspect, as he is the type of player that could bring young supporters to GC with his high marks.

Interesting that on the AFL website, when people were asked to nominate the winner of the Mega-trade between the Dees, Crows, PA and the Pies, we were voted 13% (a distant last). Frankly, I was expecting that we would have received at least a second second-round pick'out of the wash. I am sure that all Pies supporters would be drooling over the Howe highlights reel on the AFL website (as I was)!

Jimmy is a genuinely nice guy without a malicious bone in his body. Happy to give him the benefit of the doubt. Just a badly worded statement I expect.

I hope he comes good at Port , just not against us.

F me keep looking at the negatives... When are you getting your resume into PJ?

Is that you Josh?

Other than combining a player with picks, I can't now see how we can get pick 3.

For example Grimes and 6 might get you 3.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
