That's not the point.

The point is that he was worth so much more to Gold Coast, and this trade if true is less than that value.

And?! It is the players choice now days. As soon as those carnts from up the road got into his ear we had a great deal. That's gone now time to move on.

He nominated the Pies. The GC deal was done and dusted when he did that. No chance that deal was ever going to happen after that.

It's been like, 20 minutes. Give us a little while with our rage.

Trade not even confirmed yet. Might have to rage EVEN HARRRDARRRR

Anyone who's been bagging Howe's ability can hardly be critical of the deal. I preferred to keep Howe, but if he was part of a deal that acquired a player rated in our top 10, I'd be ok to trade. This trade doesn't qualify, so I'm p#ssed off with the trade. We only have ourselves to blame because we basically drove him out by low-balling with our contract offer.

If we give up 29 for Bugg, that takes the cake.

Well the entitled brat chose Collingwood so what can we do? And telling him to go to the PSD is just an immature show of foolish pride.

Ha stop choking yourself with the rage Choke.

The Melksham deal is the one we failed to capitalise on. He was uncontracted, we offered more money and more years, and we didn't hold out and force him to the PSD. Why deal ethically with the druggies, why do they deserve fair treatment?

@kanecornes: @JToumpas it would be my pleasure if you chose to wear the number 18 next year. #welcome

@kanecornes: @LaurenceBradley @JToumpas he's a star

Clearly somebody rates Toumpas.

Collingwood lost Seedman and Kennedy for Howe and 68 (win)

Collingwood supporters disagreeing.

Every supporter over-values their own players, even when they can't get a game.

I doubt it's over yet and I hardly think it's worthwhile getting upset over what has transpired so far. Isn't it still possible that we can trade second and third round picks to net a first round pick and Bugg? (I won't pretend to understand all of the nuances when it comes to values of picks and the worth to GWS of trading a first round pick for second round picks etc... but can't we still come out of this with an improved list at the end of the trade period and a better shot at the draft?)

Howe is a C+ grader and Toumpas is D.

What do you expect to receive for such players ?

(For reference I consider Nathan Jones a B grader, who has had one A grade year - 2014)

Toumpas isn't worth much more than pick 50. Pick 40 if you got really lucky. And Kennedy and 29 for Howe is reasonable.

I don't know what the fuss is about.

From Collingwood's website:

"Collingwood, Adelaide, Melbourne and Port Adelaide were involved in the trade, which involved the Pies sending Paul Seedsman to Adelaide and Ben Kennedy to Melbourne in return for Howe and pick 68 in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft.

In sending Seedsman to Adelaide, Collingwood received pick 32 which it traded on to Melbourne. The Demons then exchanged pick 32 and Jimmy Toumpas with Port Adelaide for picks 29, 50 and 68.

Collingwood then traded Kennedy to Melbourne in return for Howe and pick 68"

Looks even worse when broken down like that.

I think a lot of people were focused on getting enough from the trade to get pick 8 and Bugg from GWS... whether or not that was actually a realistic possibility.

Melksham plays the HBF role that Howe was in, but is faster, can tackle and is generally more accountable. Probably a better kick, but that doesn't say a lot.

Toumpas wasn't in our best 22, Kennedy is going to be a borderline in the 22, might be able to play Kent's role if injured, but has more outside pace and gives us something a bit different.

I think the success in this trade period hinges on what happens with the picks we get in from this trade rather than the players we've gained... I don't think we have lost, but no big gains either.

I can't say I'm disappointed in this trade. I don't believe Howe was going to get any better. Yes he was great to watch at times but when moved forward he struggled to kick a set shot and he only knew how to run one way. I've also always thought his attitude on the ground was quite poor. Toumpas has no pace and as an outside mid thats the one aspect of your game you need. I thought he was pretty gutless at times and hasn't really added much to his body since being at the club. I don't have much to say about either Bugg (presuming that trade gets done with picks we receive) or Kennedy but I honestly can't see how we loose really. I think we just break even really.

Stop ..stop...stop..

Get off the Reality Bus and pop in the bar and soak up the suds as you cry into your beer. Why aren't you lamenting thus EOW calamity.....oh the injustice !!!

We should have ended up with 29 and 32

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
