I really think Kennedy is going to develop into a very good B plus grade player, i can't see him being a star, but i reckon the boys just love having him out there, he just goes in hard no matter the state of the game.

He's a great role player.

To those that didn't understand the decision to move on Howe an replace him with someone like Kennedy - Howe finds it extremely difficult to find the footy from the forward line unless he is sitting on shoulders. Kennedy is a point of difference in that forward line because;

1. he can get kicks up the ground,

2. he can fight for the footy in a scrum in the forward line,

3. and get it at the feet when the ball is directed toward Watts and Hogan.

I was really worried going into this year about who could help Garlett but Kennedy and Kent have played some excellent games this year. They have gone missing for times but playing small in the forward line is very tough. Adding Petracca to those three will be very interesting. They can all do damage offensively but are very hungry defensively.

BenKen can and has also spend time in the midfield...

I watched his 2nd goal yesterday that many times. Best goal of the day by a mile when you consider the whole sequence.

The strong tackle to stop the potential rebound and keep it alive in our forward line, the manic hard as [censored] dive to retrieve the ball, then waltz out the back and dribble it through like it was no biggie.

Just wanted it more than everyone. Sensational goal.

I reckon Petracca's second goal is underrated.  I know he made it look easy, but that goal summed up his one touch talent and freakish ability.

Yeah I mentioned that one in the Petracca debut thread (should just be a Petracca thread btw), incredible skill.

I was in that pocket H and it was my highlight too.

Opposition supporters are going to hate him. I love it.

Effing sensational.

He moves so well for a guy his size, and it's excellent to see that his pivot and turn seems unaffected by the knee reconstruction. Will be a beast through traffic.

Has our recruiting over the last 3 years or so been better than any other team? I think it's definitely possible.

Such a brilliant contrast to the years before that.

Bulldogs have been pretty good, but that said - we now have a clear methodology and are able to identify and recruit players who firmly fit within it.

The turnaround under Roos and Jackson has been sensational. We were stuffed just minutes before Roos took control of this list.

Todd and Jason Taylor also deserve some serious credit.

Absolutely. As does Josh Mahoney. Roos has managed to change the culture of the joint such that everyone seems to be walking in the right/same direction.

Josh Mahoney has been the only one to retain his role from the darkest days, hasn't he? Says a lot about his character and determination and he has definitely coupled well with Roos and the rest of the new football department.

Love Ben Kennedy's hardness and attack on the contest.

I was at the Coll vs Carlton game on Saturday - Howe had quite a good game as playing the extra man in defense.  He has the same issue as he had with us. He marked well - he ran quite well - he tackled well - but he lacks the intestinal fortitude to want to be a player that makes a difference. The idea that Collingwood wanted to turn him into their version of Gunston will never come to fruition - Howe marks better than Gunston, Howe has a good tank, How is as good at ground level - Gunston is a better kick but the huge difference is that Gunston works his butt off - Howe is still too lazy...

I see your Petracca and BenKen goals and raise you the almighty Chunk 2nd quarter gut running goal. Started with the ball at FB and moments later was breaking the lines and kicking truly from 50m. Captains goal.

Garlett's first was OK too ^_^

I only watched 5 minutes of that game and saw a classic Howe kick to grass coming out of defence which put his teammate under immense unnecessary pressure.

I've heard about the pies having a good chuckle re trading with us these last few years, right now that last laugh saying is tickling my senses.

The club insiders or supporters?

Dawes hasn't been the CHF we probably wanted but the Pies got pick 20 and 47 (they packaged that pick to North with 41 to give them pick 38). Pies picked up Tim Broomhead and Jaxson Ramsey who have played 30 games between them, Dawes has 44 for us. H has his moments but we got something from a chitty Clark situation, and at this point we look to have the best value of the BenKen/Howe scenario.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 18 vs Essendon

It’s game day and the Demons face a massive test which may determine whether they have what it takes to play finals this season. The task has been made all the more difficult without their Premiership Captain Max Gawn.

    GIANT HEADACHE by Whispering Jack

The crack in the captain’s ankle might be very small but the repercussions of the injury are enormous. The aftershock of the news that Max Gawn will sit on the sidelines for the next two or three weeks has provided Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin with a giant headache, not unlike the one he faced after the Kings Birthday when another Demon superstar Christian Petracca suffered his season-ending injury. That headache is magnified by the fact that Goodwin is facing a month of tough encounters a

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.
