A mutual friend of mine and Bugg told me similar last night and posted in the other thread. Seems he had virtually put pen to paper as much as possible without being official trade week deal

Chuffed if we get him. Liked him from the start. Good negator, speedy, decent left foot, can win his own ball and doesn't shirk a contest. Well rounded player who could settle into the back six very quickly.

Yeah can someone elaborate on the type of player he is. I know he's played in the backline and the midfield and has been good at tagging at times but I haven't seem enough of him to really appreciate what he would be worth.

Bugg is a better version of Steven Baker (without the sociopathic tendencies) in that he can play back pocket or midfield tag.

He is a neat left foot kick and always gets under his opponents' skin. Can accumulate and sneak a goal too.

I remember reading something last year that Bugg was on the trade table with Melbourne and Roos said no.

I can not recall where I read this but it may have been here on Demonland. I know, it is very vague..

Being a left footer is a big tick for me. I've said it before but having a few decent left foot kicks is hugely valuable, particularly of the half back. A good lefty often has a bit more time and space as instinctively players cover for right kicks. As we see with Salem this can be really important when clearing the ball from the back half and crossing to the 'fat side' ( a side i crossed to some time ago - i'm trying to get back to the other side but it aint so easy).

He was definitely linked to us, although I don't know anything about Roos saying no. It was Bugg and someone else for our top pick, but that ended up being for Dom Tyson and their 9th pick which was Salem.

This feels like another rumour gathering steam that is based on very little info. If he leaves the Giants then I wouldn't say no, but I'm not holding my breath either.

I'd be interested to see how we would get a deal done if our second round pick is earmarked for Melksham. A third round pick might not be enough, particularly as the Giants are cutting their list.

3rd rounder should be more than enough for Melksham, happy to trade our 2nd for Bugg.

That's exactly why a 3rd rounder might be enough...

3rd for milksham.

but also don't forget you can now trade next year's picks

or maybe a player swap or combo of player/lower pick

plenty of alternatives

Long term replacement for B. Vince?

Bugg would be more like your Ben Jacobs type. Doesn't hurt the opposition on offense like Vince. I'd have Bugg as a backman to replace Grimes or Garland.

How about Bugg and their second rounder for our first rounder?

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Firstly the bad news - McVee went down late, which does look like a bad hammy - towards the end of match sim, as he kicked the ball. Had to

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
