Essendon are asking for Jack Billings in return for Carlisle

Absolute muppets

Are you going by the HUN article? Because if you are, what you've said above isn't entirely correct.

The article suggests that the Bombers could target him if the Saints aren't willing to part with Pick 5 in the draft for Carlisle. At no stage does it say that's what the Bombers are asking for at the moment.

Hawthorn have made a bid for Carlisle......why am I not surprised...

Two late first rounders...having passed Jed Anderson to Nth.

Ooops! The panic button just went off at Seaford!!

Hawkes will give up their 1st round pick that Ess want and may throw in a sweetner!

I wish it had been us that made such a daring move on Carlisle!

Edit: from the Age: "It would see the Hawks give up their first-round pick and Jed Anderson, and get Carlisle from the Bombers. Then Anderson would go to the Kangaroos with Essendon's pick No.41, and the Bombers would get No.15 and No.18."

How can Ess resist two 1st round picks!

Hope he chooses the Saints and they get a deal done.

Better for the comp.

Agreed but they've only got themselves to blame. When a good KP like that wants to come to your lowly placed club - just do the deal. 5 for Carlisle + 24 is a total no brainer.

Hawthorn screws over the bottom clubs once again.

The AFL is nothing but a mini premier league, with teams like Geelong, Hawthorn and Sydney having all the leverage and rules in their favour to stay at the top, and play finals year after year after year, while the trading rules ensure the other clubs battle for survival.

Equality is a joke.

Rubbish, it's the Saints fault for stuffing around - trade should have been done on day 1.

True the saints didn't want to part with such a high pick, but the Hawks still get their man don't they?

And do you think that is a good thing for the competition?

Saints would be idiots to give up pick 5 for a WADA boy.

Apparently Carlisle still wants to head to the saints, although the shot at a flag would be appealing I guess.

Bottom line is the saints will need to hand over pick 5 otherwise they miss out. Not as if they haven't had ample opportunity to deal with EFC

Hawks aren't to blame at all. The Saints and Carlton were keen and he nominated the Saints. Clearly they didn't want to part with Pick 5 or really get the discussions going so the Hawks swooped in with an offer. 15 other clubs could have done the same.

If he goes go to Whorethorn then the only people to blame are the Saints.

I wouldn't give up ND5 for Carlisle. If he ends up at Hawthorn it is good for the brokering of trades for clubs, bad for the equalisation of the league, and good for the Saints long term rebuild.

No black and white here - really grey and each party has to deal with what is in front of them.

Let's see what St Kilda come up with, but I hope for their sake the don't cough up too much.

Seems the complete opposite of how we're handling the Howe situation.

"I think Jake probably had his heart set on going to St Kilda. That may be where he still wishes to go but Hawthorn is a good option," Dodoro told NAB AFL Trade Radio.

"I'm sure he'd prefer to go to Hawthorn than to go into the pre-season draft."

Such a dickmove, but [censored] I'm jealous. Carlisle's elected to move to the Saints and the bombers are just going yeah mate, Hawthorn's the go hey. If the Suns offer a better deal, god damn it, get him to the Suns.

I don't think you get it, I'm not blaming anybody.

I just think it sucks how the top teams seem to get all the good players.

Saints didn't think he was worth pick 5 , so we will see what Hawthorn give up for him.

Don't worry, I understand that part.

It's just that this time Carlisle didn't even nominate them. He was happy to go to a team in the bottom half... and they may have dropped the ball which is ridiculous in the extreme!

Not that I'd want Carlisle, but I love when these players choose Hawthorn. If we can't have em I don't want the clubs around us getting em.

Same with the flags, couldn't care less if Hawthorn won them all until we get our next one. In fact I'd prefer it. Let everyone suffer.

I'm twisted like that.

Look I agree in principle, but this isn't a case of Hawthorn having an advantage over anyone here, they're just the ones willing to do the deal with Essendon. Carlisle seems (seemed?) quite willing to go to St Kilda; so can get him if they want. They're just choosing to be stubborn and Hawthorn are holding them to account.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
