Legends Game

Love watching this every year. Obviously I look out for the Melbourne boys.

Robbo knocked himself trying to take an absolute screamer! Davey could still get a game for us he is still a lethal kick. Love watching my all time favourite player the WIZ Farmer!

Btw Crawf hasn't lost any of his touch. Still a gun.

Would be better if they all dressed in clown suits and ran around throwing cream pies and pulling each other's pants down. Terrible match, embarrassing. Just needs canned laughter to complete the cringeworthness. Sorry to rain on your parade Dazz.

Lighten up a bit mate. Once you realise that it's not meant to be a serious game with fast ball movement and good skills, it's actually pretty enjoyable to watch. All just a bit of fun for a good cause

Have to agree. Even the commentators were taking the pizz out of Russell Gilbert for doing the same jumper swap gag every year. And it was ironic that Shane Crawford and 1 or 2 others took the fun out of the game by actually playing football. It really was cringeworthy.

Not sure why Moonie has to bring the image of pulling mens pants down into the discussion (tells us something about him I suppose) but I do agree with his contention - these games are singularly unfunny.

Where did I say I expected a serious game with fast ball movement? Try not putting words into other's mouths mc.

Good cause, yes. Fun to watch, no. Cringeworthy, definitely.

Trust you to bring smut into the thread. Have a look at your own avatar before casting nasturtiums.

26000 people and great rating suggest it still as popular as ever, maybe even more so.

Wasn't putting words in your mouth. Your post just came across as if you thought the game wasn't 'serious' enough so they might as well go to the complete opposite end of the spectrum.

To everyone calling to scrap it thats just ridiculous. Look how much money it raises for prostate cancer. Its a bit of a laugh for 2 hours. I think it was great for someone like the whiz to participate.

I think we can put up with it once a year.

I get it. You weren't putting words into my mouth, but you assumed something I thought which I didn't. Rightio.....

Game should be scrapped, just a bunch of old hacks running around.

Let it go. You had your time. Let it go.

Irony.

These blokes are providing entertainment and contributing to a cause at the same time.

I don't dispute the cringe-worthiness of it all but I do manage to look past it and appreciate it for what it is, and meant to be.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
