Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Well with the demonland crowd he needs to play about 4 times better than Hogan to get the same amount of credit

It's because too many on this site are obsessed with stats. Thankfully Roos isn't and he can see the contribution from players for what it is. We've had numerous players have a small impact on the stats sheet but then have a massive impact on so many other aspects of the game.

Just read the the game day threads - how many people pipe up with comments on who hasn't touched the ball enough? I know last game h_h, who probably wasn't even watching the game, kept rabbiting on about how Howe had no disposals to half time. Yet his ability to bring the ball to ground directly contributed to three goals we kicked in the first half. But because that's not on the stats sheet many think he is having a poor game and that he is 'already gone' at the end of the year.

Perspective isn't a word put into practice around here these days and it's a damn shame.

Not for me, if we win and he contributes then he has played his role.

If we lose and WC run the ball easily out of defence then it will be that we didn't get our match ups right. Things would be a lot easier if Dawes could play a role in the ruck.

A goal from him once in a blue moon would be handy.. Just saying

No, not at all. Dawes will receive credit when he is deserving, just as he did after the Adelaide game last year. But he hasn't produced anything near that level this year.

Big opportunity for Gawn. Can match Nic Nat in hit outs (or at least not get embarrassed). But the biggest criticism of Nic Nat is his ability, or lack there of, to take marks especially contested.

Get on your bike big Gawny and get those dukes out

Funnily enough, it's also one of the two main criticisms people have of Gawn too.

Great to see Stretch and ANB hold their places. Probably a bit ahead of time due to injuries, but it can only benefit their development.

Both worthy of it too. They contributed very nicely to the Geelong win.

but we kicked 18 last week and he was part of the reason we did so

And we can become an even better side if he started kicking goals. He was good in patches but is it too much to as from a premiership CHF that we have paid 500k a year to actually start hitting the scoreboard..?? What he does off the ball is great but when your a big forward target you are also expected to kick goals. 3 goals from 6 games is simply not good enough.

There are no excuses this week considering WC depleted backline.

I'm his harshest critic, but Dawes did contribute in Geelong and played his best game all year.

Not unhappy with the line up but we may well be regretting playing the talls come 10pm Saturday.

Not necessarily. Dawes is more dangerous by hand than by foot at the moment

Only thing working in our favour is the Eagles have never been to Darwin. Expecting us to play a really good 1-2 quarters, drop off and lose by 15-20 points. Who knows though. Interested to see if we really attack West Coast or go back to conservation mode. Can't wait to watch this with some other supporters, and I hope there's a fair few with the means to make the trip too.

Dont like Garland for Lumumba

Garland gives us no run and thinks like a sloth.

IMO

Bad choice i Igree with others on here Garlands' stop and prop and slow thinking is a huge part of the problem. We are better without him. Harry at least takes the game on and can defend

The ins/outs might show Garland replacing Lumumba.

But from the list it looks like Toumpas is the on-field replacement and will have the 'run and carry' role.

He runs well, is developing poise and in the St K game showed he has a good defensive game.

Expecting Jimmy's role to be like Salem's early in the year, when Lumumba was in the midfield.

Looks ok to me.

The reality is that Dawes' role is going to involve creating goals for others more and more. He is a competitor that you can kick it to and know he is not going to get beaten very often. Hogan owns that forward line now, Garlett is so effective and Howe is impossible to match up against - these are the blokes that are going to kick us a winning score.

Can you please elaborate for the uneducated how he is impacting games? As I've said before the whole leadership/clubman line is wearing thin. Is it the fact he's a great public speaker like Grimes? Is it his forward pressure laying a massive 2 tackles against the Cats? Is it his decoy running? Let's not forget what he's costing us. As has already been mentioned, we can become better rather than remain content with mediocre performances from someone on top dollar.

I wonder how Bernie's headspace is at the moment?

I don't think he was at the Crows when bernie was there but he will no doubt feel for everyone there.....

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
