deer in the headlights stuff from H today, every time he gets it my heart rate goes up, and not in a good way.

Posted

He's like the anti-Pendlebury. Probably much faster in a straight-line dash, but no peripheral awareness, composure. Always looked rushed and panicked even when he's got time. Burns the ball habitually.

Posted

Thought he has been quite good, at least he is attacking the [censored] footy.

He panics like a first gamer and runs himself into trouble every time.

Btw, who are booing him, us or them?

Posted

At least he is taking the game on, Toumpas is just panicking.

Lumumba handballing to a stationery Tuompas was the one time I would have a permitted a commentator to say "chaos ball"

It was clear he was very nervous early on. He fumbled the ball a lot in the first quarter. As the game wore on, he seemed to back his pace which at times ended up placing him under more pressure, leading to a rushed handball.

Has been serviceable so far this season. Better than anything we've had on halfback for some time.

Fair to say Lumumba had a poor game. Got a fair bit of the ball by his standards which turned out to be a bad thing. Credit to him though, rarely did it hurt us. Don't think he got caught once

He needs to just stop. Get the ball and stop. Think. Execute.

He's a million miles an hour into a 7 man pack. Every time!

Posted

He got enough of it today but just seemed to try too hard to force himself into form, never actually looked to settle.

After quarter time he was ok but given he's in the leadership group he needs to read the game and the situation more.

Disagree. I think the rest of the team needs to learn to play on. H has the right idea but no one else runs so he sometimes gets caught.

I thought he did quite well. Could not understand why, when we needed run out of the back line, he spent most of the last quarter deep on the forward line

much to this actually. Harry came from a team that just went. He would have expected leads and options to present with them. We as a team still don't have this belief an often play to what the opposing allows. We need to be positive and proactive and play our game. Until we do,we're going nowhere fast.......just like Harry was.

No problem with playing on, big problem playing on when it's the wrong decision.

He got caught WAY too much yesterday, and this ended in hurried kicks usually directly to the opposition.

I like players who back themselves, but he reminds of Jones circa 2009... get ball, run into brick wall of players, turn over ball.

Every player has to know his limitations.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
