Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

What were you doing up in Canada at this time of year, BB? Massive snowstorm in Montreal over New Year's wouldn't have made traveling much fun.

It's my 40th on Monday the 11th. I could think of no better present than CAS coming out with a totally appropriate ban for players of at least 12 months from that date, and an announcement that one James Hird will now be charged with his involvement in this whole very sordid scandal with a life ban from any involvement in all competitive sports as the likely sentence. (He's in the same league as Armstrong)

Could be a sad affair if the decision goes the other way!

i hope you'll be happy with Melksham missing the year after we paid through the roof to get him.

I can live with that. End goal should always be Hird's removal from all sport.

You are correct - so I'll be more specific - the end goal for this saga should be to be a major deterrent to any other team that thinks they can get away with something like this and hammer JH, and others involved in the decision making, that led to this debacle.

Should have flown Calgary direct to LHR.  3 services a day. BA or Air Canada.

That's too bad. Banff is fantastic, as is Montreal, though I'm not sure how I'd feel about being stuck in the airport.

I've found that Air Canada has been much improved in recent years and now quite enjoy flying with them rather than any of the American airlines. Enjoy the UK...I hope your bad luck has run out.

American Airlines and enjoyment seldom go in the same sentence.

First post - highly optimistic about 2016 - I couldn't help but smile with indicators like our fans going to the snow in the off season, things must be on the up! Hope the trip is going well BB.

Then the MFC should sue the Drug Lords for the loss due to their negligence.

This saga just keeps on giving!

Since we knew there was a risk of sanctions in the event of players being found guilty, it's fair to say that we assumed the risk. We would be lucky to get a single dollar.

American Airlines, United, US Airways (now defunct), Delta, etc, etc, etc...all absolutely terrible. Air Canada is by far the best option in North America, IMO.

Air Canada isn't that flash. They have very little competition within Canada. They regularly stuff up. Ask any Canadian..esp those servicing the industry. The shuttle driver just rolled eyes.."Air Canada eh....do it ALL the time" . There are worse airlines. United comes to mind lol.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
